WoW Radio announces WoW Idol 2008
WoW Radio (home of our increasingly popular podcast) sends along a note that they've announced another round of WoW Idol, a contest to find the best WoW-related song their listeners can come up with. They're looking for both original work, and WoW parodies of popular songs, and the deadline is Friday the 18th of January. After that, the songs will be posted on their site (and played on air), and the finalists will be narrowed down to five winners, including three critics' choices, one popular choice, and a worst/most embarrassing winner. Sounds like a lot of fun (get it? "sounds"? ha!).And the prizes have notably improved from the last go-around-- you could win a signed poster, t-shirts, and everyone (including the worst winner) gets a BlizzCon beta key/murloc suit card. Hot! They're looking for songs 3-5 minutes long and related to World of Warcraft in some way-- send your submission to "wowidol AT wcradio dot com".
Can't wait to hear the entries-- if any of them happen to be related to WoW Insider, we'll have to ask WoW Radio to let us play them on our podcast as well. If you plan to enter, good luck!

If your podcast was ever-so-inclining in popularity, why do you have to spam it a 1000x over? I like WoWInsider, but come on, the self-linking and self-reiteration of content is getting out of hand.
Ah well.

Oh come on, you're complaining about them advertising their podcast on their site? What exactly is so wrong with that? Next you'll be telling me Blizzard does too much self-promotion on theirs. After all, if their game was 'ever-so-inclining in popularity', they wouldn't need to talk about it all the time.
Incidently, and on topic, we'll hopefully have some more prizes by time the finals arrive. WoW Idol 2005 was huge, and it's been way too long since we did one.

Coca Cola is the one of the most popular sodas in the world, so they don't spend any money on advertising, right?
I hear what you're saying-- if every post we put up had a link to the podcast, that would probably be a bit much. But I don't think there's anything wrong with mentioning our podcast occasionally, especially in a post like this where we're actually talking about the website it's hosted on.

I visit the site alot now since the WoW Insider show came to WoW Radio.
By alot i mean 2 or 3 times a day, and the only posts i ever see for the show isnt the 1000x heartless seems to think there is, but one says the show will be on tomorrow/today, and another post saying the archive is up, and heres what happened on the show. Thats two posts a week.
Mike makes more than that post in a day or two insulting some part of the community (like paladins) and making people angry over something (like his DIY laptop), so does Mike post to many articles, if the WoW Insider show gets SO much promotion?
