Breakfast Topic: What's your anti-class?
We're not talking about drugs here, and I don't mean to ask what class you just can't seem to beat in PvP. Nope, today's topic is a little more humbling and personal. Charly over on WoW Ladies wants to know: what class can't you play?Me, I've never been able to play a Paladin to my satisfaction-- despite my obvious concerns (which have come up before and which I won't belabor here), the class just never vibed with my playstyle. Warlock is another one that, for whatever reason, I've just never been able to play past about level 10 or so. It's not that I think they're bad classes-- it's just that I personally just don't vibe with their playstyle.
What about you? Are there any classes that you just can't seem to play and get into? What's your anti-class?

My main is a 70 prot warrior, main alt is a 70 resto shaman, and my secondary alt is a 65 ret paladin. Anti-classes would have to be warlocks and rogues... I can't play them, they just drive me nuts.
Also, am getting really frustrated on the paladin... she had been protection specced until about level 62, when I realized that I couldn't do anywhere near enough damage to Outlands critters. Pulling 5-10 mobs in the Old World was fun as a prot pally, but doing anymore than 1 or 2 in Outland just gets you killed. But ret is just... boring. I was really hoping it would be more like a fury warrior, as I love throwing on DPS gear and going berserker on my main. Meh. Retribution paladins for the lose.

Druids and priests are virtually unplayable for me. Not that I can't grok them, they just numb my mind...

For me, my anti-class would have to be casters... I've rolled a few of 'em, I just love the melee aspect of my rogues!
Zeebu Dec 30th 2007 8:38AM
rogues. try as i might i can't get ahold of 'em. there is just something about the complexity of the class (as my guild mates keep referring to it) that i just can't grasp!
i'll take my hunter anyday though :D

I can't seem to get a rogue or paladin above lvl 20. It just gets boring to me. Other than that, I just hate hunters, they require absolutely no thinking whatsoever to be able to get one of those to lvl 70.

Hunters are so easy to play, every account should just be given a lvl 70 when they start. For me, it would have to be a Shaman.

I can't stand warriors and rogues, for their dull (at least for me) melee aspect, but strangely enough i love paladins...
Another class that i can't simply stand is warlock, not because they are boring, or they having a complicated DoT+pet system... no, i hate them because they are too easy... call me crazy, but when i rolled an warlock he offered me no chalenges, not like my paladin's slow pace and seal sistem , my mage's squishiness or my priest's healing control. Nothing...

That would be priest for, though I haven't tried for some time.
I have alts at various levels for almost every class but the priest just didn't tick for me. I guess it's the lack of survivability that anoyed me.
My main is a pally btw.

I keep getting psyched up about rolling a warlock, get to lvl 11 or so and then give up. Same with hunters. They just don't seem to be my style. I love the idea of druids but I tend to only get to the mid-30s or so before my enthusiasm grinds to a halt. Shaman usually get dull for me around lvl 20.
On the flip side of the coin, I have numerous mages, paladins and priests and I love 'em- they never get dull for me.
KenMo Dec 30th 2007 8:58AM
I'd have to say Shaman. I've tried them a couple of times, and when watching players who can play them, they look like they are a lot of fun, but...
Are they casters or melee or healers or tanks or what? I can never decide what I want to specialize in with them.
If I choose healer, I'd rather play a Paladin or a Priest.
If I choose DPS, I'd rather play a Mage or Warlock (or even Hunter)
If I choose tank, I'd rather play a Paladin or a Warrior.
Baluki Dec 30th 2007 1:17PM
First, Shamans can't tank. At all. They're not even designed for it, unless you count the Earth Elemental totem.
I think what you meant was that the 3 shaman roles are Caster DPS, Melee DPS, and Healing.
As casters, yea, you may want to do a Mage or Warlock or something instead.
As melee, they're kinda unique. I guess they're most closely related to Warriors, though their mix of spells and melee is unique.
As healer, yes you could play a drood or priest, but Chain Heal and Earth Shield are very nice to have.

My anti-class would have to be the Warrior. I have mains/alts in every other class, my favorites being the Mage, Druid and Pally. I have just never been able to gather the patience to level a Warrior past 12 levels. I always end up deleting them.
dAnixx Dec 30th 2007 9:21AM
Paladin. Coz they'r paladins.
Jhestor Dec 30th 2007 9:22AM
Funny enough, my 70 and 63 alt are a Warlock and a Paladin. I can't seem to get into any other class. Heh heh.
Daniel Dec 30th 2007 9:27AM
I absolutely cannot play a warrior. Not because its a bad class, but being used to quick and high DPS classes such as mages or rogues, I start chewing my nails when I have to wait 3 seconds for a warrior to pick up a mace and swing it.
And rogues, dull melee? Please... If anything it's one of the only classes which actually requires for you to have good keyboard control (ie. lots of prior quake time).
enkafiles Dec 30th 2007 9:23AM
Not a class, just a spec - feral druid just doesn't click with me.
Come to think of it, no melee class/spec other than paladins (prot grinding!) and subtlety rogues... caster at heart?
And I'm surprised noone has said this yet:
hunters are easy to play but hard to play well -
and really rewarding if you can get it right...
weaving several mobs back and forth between you,
your pet and your traps... bliss. ^^
Elmo Dec 30th 2007 9:55AM
My class is a Shaman.
my anti class would be mage or rogue. just find them boring
Jester602 Dec 30th 2007 9:56AM
Hunter and rogue. No idea why, I just CAN'T. :(
NoClicky Dec 30th 2007 10:02AM
Rogues. I've tried four times (BElf, Orc, human, and gnome).
I have at least one (and as many as three) of every other class, but rogues have never clicked (even after playing a cat-druid for 30 levels).

did you pick that name for that comment XD
