I have to kinda agree that someone who is antsy to become an officer, even if they're a loyal guild member, may not be a great choice. The original e-mail submission just says "Uh... I've been with my guild a long time, I'd like to be an officer!" So... why? If it's 'to help the guild progress' or something equally vague, you don't need a title to do it. Status attracts people, but so do the "sexy" aspects of leadership (as seen from the outside looking in) such as leading raids, being consulted re: specs and gear, etc. No one thinks about the boring aspects of any new job they hope to get.
