BlizzCast gets a launch date
According to Blizzplanet, the first official Blizzard podcast is done and currently being translated for different regions. It will be available on Thursday, January 10 if all goes well. Blizzard has been tight-lipped about the imminent Patch 2.4. Perhaps they will be revealing some details about the Sunwell Plateau in this podcast. This first podcast will be audio only, but future ones are promised to be vidcasts. Along with news and information about the game, it will also include questions from the players (though hopefully not from the General forums.)
If you can't listen to it on Thursday, check in here and we'll list the highlights.

I think it's stupid that they have to translate English to English. Plus....Aren't Podcasts supposed to be live? Hmm, Another failure from Blizzard imo. =/

Nearly all podcasts are pre-recorded. And boo-hoo, they want to release it simultaneously to everyone. Horror of horrors.

Not the podcasts I listen to, and when it is pre-recorded they announce the week before that it will be, and ya I'm down with that. But my expectation from blizzard was alot higher on their Release ability. Sorry I'm just a huge fan of wcradio, And really, since they are a primarily an English speaking company, they should be able to release it shortly after, or do a live feed. Sorry but since Blizzard can burn $100 bills you would think that they could do a live feed for us English speakers.

Hurray for English!? What about all of Asia and Europe.
Also, podcasts by nature are pre-recoded; such that one can download it and copy it to their iPod. I believe you are confusing a specific podcast with a 'pod-ed' version of a previously live to air radio show.

Podcasts are by nature prerecorded, and then distributed. The only 'live' podcasts as you call them are actually radio shows that are made into a downloadable archived form and distributed as a podcast later. (e.g. wcradio; note that it isn't wcpodcast...)
Back on track, though, I'm really excited about this, can't wait to find out what juicy secrets blizz will reveal.

While we release podcasts, our shows are originally Shoutcasted live shows. There is a pretty big difference. A podcast is merely a form of distribution.

Idiots have changed "pod-cast" to mean "audio file on the Internet".
TotalBiscuit Jan 8th 2008 7:46PM
We're looking forward to this. When Blizzard speaks on anything it's very much content that can be taken apart and analyzed. For us, this is a huge source of potential content and discussion.

So your form of "podcasts" are shoutcasts? I've never heard that term. Well my bad if so, because I always tought the form to be podcasts. Well what ever, But I never said it was ~Extremely~ bad thing for the wait or what ever, but since I do work with media ALOT I would find it ~Extremely~ easy for them to cut the audio file and plug in there ads and whatnot and place openings where they should and fix any audio bugs. But hey I'm going into special effects for movies so what do I know? I just hope they've got some nice 2.4 info.

Nah see this is the way it works. Live internet audio streams are referred to as either Shoutcasts, or Icecasts, the two common ways of broadcasting. After the fact, our shows are archived in the form of podcasts, which merely means a web-based audio broadcast via an RSS feed, accessed by subscription over the Internet. Contrary to popular belief, podcasts do NOT need to be prerecorded in order to be podcasts, though the vast majority of them are. To have a podcast, you have to have a certain distribution method, as described above, that's it.

I can't seem to find any info on Blizzard's official page related to Blizzcast. You would think it would at least be mentioned in the news section of their site right?

Can't find it on the site
