Reader WoWspace of the Week: Shaard
Along with Reader UI of the Week, we're also bringing back the Reader WoWspace of the Week, just in time for your downtime enjoyment! (We're thoughtful like that.) Of course, much like the Reader UI column, this column survives or dies based on your submissions! We've got some in the mailbox still, but we want more pictures and stories! If you've ever thought about submitting a WoWspace, now is a good time to do it! (And remember, we like 'em candid. -- Besides, I did it, you can too!)
For this week's entry, we've got four pictures from Shaard -- and we're even keeping with our Druid theme today! (Although the WoWspace isn't perhaps very Druid-y.) For an in-depth look at a candid and unedited WoWspace, join us after the jump when Shaard tells us all about it. I have enjoyed reading about all of the other places that people enjoy the same game as I do and I would like to let them enjoy mine as well. I will start with the basics.
The character -
Shaard, Level 66 Night Elf Druid on the Thrall Server (US) -- Along with multiple alts.
The computer - (In Red)
24" Aluminum iMac with the ATI Radeon 2600 Pro 256MB video card
-Also powering a 19" Samsung SyncMaster 912n
Wireless Bluetooth Apple keyboard
Wireless Microsoft Intellimouse
RCA 720 watt surround sound system for all game sounds
The communication -
Motorola HT820 Bluetooth Headset for both Ventrilo and Teamspeak depending on the situation (In Blue)
LG VX9800 through Verizon Wireless (In Green)
The game fuel - (In Pink)
Glorious Mountain Dew
Not colored but just as important and hidden in other pictures -
My amazing girlfriend, who doesn't yell at me (much) for playing too much WoW
iPod Video (Not the Classic)
The girlfriend's laptop
Unused Apple Mighty Mouse
House Season 1 DVD
Desk purchased from Staples
Planner handed out by my school - Go Dragons!
Bicycle tire pump
Butterfingers, mini marshmallows, a Squirt because I ran out of Dew for a little while
As you can see it is the same desk that I study (very little in my case) and it is in my room here at college. I bought the computer with money I saved up over summer because it was like a dream computer for me. I also use it for work as I do audio/video editing and minor 3D graphic design.
That's right -- Amazing girlfriend does indeed feature in these pictures! See?
Tahdah, unedited, now with 100% more amazing girlfriend than previous pictures! (Although we have to wonder if she's not going to kill him for sending us a picture of her asleep, really. Being cool with you playing WoW is one thing...) For dorm living, this is a pretty sweet setup, though. Of course, now we want chocolate covered pretzels. Nom nom nom.
If you're feeling brave -- or even if not -- grab your camera, snap a picture of your WoWspace (feel free to include your own version of awesome people) write up a bit about it and send it to us here at WoW Insider before you think twice. Your WoWspace could be featured next!

Looks like a pigs sty! Dud clean your room a little at least.
It looks like a raid of ants dream instance.
I once had a raid of ants hit my room. I put the ice cream cup on the floor. 1 hour later I had a 4000 man ant raid in my house! Lucky I had a powerful aoe to stop them. The tank could not hold my agro.

Bah, the beauti of this collum is that the pics are RAW, all cluttered and ready for hours of wow-time.
kudos
billgates Jan 8th 2008 3:26PM
he's just keeping it real...
One time I played WoW for like two days straight and by the second day I had like 10 empty Mountain Dew cans on my desk
Xchupa Jan 8th 2008 2:30PM
Time to clean up your desk man...
Nice monitor btw...
jaymulder Jan 8th 2008 2:41PM
Sweet. This is exactly how my desk looks like after every weekend. Getting that extra bar > cleaning.
William Jan 8th 2008 2:42PM
SELLOUT! YOU USE A MICROSOFT MOUSE!?!?!
Okay, I'm done. Just a little high strung since the server is down and I didn't get my lunchtime gaming today.
Milktub Jan 8th 2008 2:47PM
Well, at least now I'm not going to be embarassed to send in my WoWSpace.
Naix Jan 8th 2008 2:49PM
"Although we have to wonder if she's not going to kill him for sending us a picture of her asleep"
I always wondered why people get upset at having their picture on the internets. I mean when you DO go out in public you don't get mad at people looking at you? Do you?
Krystalle Voecks Jan 8th 2008 3:52PM
Heh, it's not a question of her being in the picture; it's a question of her being asleep, sans makeup, potentially drooling on the pillow on the Internet that we were wondering about.
When I'm out in public, I'm dressed up. Not face-first in a pillow. :D
Rudolphe Jan 8th 2008 2:51PM
probably because the ammount of rapist, child molestors and plain old weirds on the internet who have absolutley no shame in thier game because people on the internet cant reach out and touch you as easily as a person on the street can get thier jollies off to someones photograph, post it all over t he internet and do whatever they want with it. I personally dont put my face on the web.. i'd just rather not have people saving picutres of me to thier computer
Adorable1 Jan 8th 2008 2:52PM
Seriously though - it is very uncomfortable to play WoW on the mighty mouse. One button control and nipple zooming is enough to put a bullet in my head. My year old iMac does play WoW beautifully though - wish I could say the same for my new laptop running Vista.
Rudolphe Jan 8th 2008 2:55PM
upgrade yer laptop sir.. i'm running vista and wow's usually sitting around 120 fps, around 40-80 fps in 25 man raids depending on whats going on.
Liel Jan 8th 2008 3:05PM
120FPS? what are you running it at 1024 I have a 7900GT and I cap at around 60.
Naix Jan 8th 2008 3:19PM
Too bad your eye can't see past 60 fps.
Mad Cow Jan 8th 2008 3:58PM
@liel
Probably because you have vsync enabled. It caps at 60, just like your eyeballz.
Datone Jan 8th 2008 2:59PM
At first glance I thought wow thats a bunch of sugar ie: Mountain Dew, Butterfingers, Chocolate Covered Pretzels FtW!, and Colored Marshmellows? /shrug. But then poking out of the corner under the second monitor a bag of Pixie Stixs, which either means your GF is sleeping because she is tired or it is 4:00 in the morning and you are still hopped up on sugar taking these photos. =)
Milktub Jan 8th 2008 3:41PM
Not to mention the pills.
I'm hoping it's Ritalin. Lots of Ritalin.
Shaard Apr 2nd 2008 5:02AM
funny you should say something about taking the pics at 4 in the morning. . if my memory is correct i recall taking them at around 3 or 3:30 in the morning btu you were very close.
for the rest of the comments about the room being very messy and needing to be cleaned. it was. but i also submitted this WoW Space a few months ago, so it has been cleaned many times since then.
Kryptonls Jan 8th 2008 3:51PM
Haha, Voecks actually tagged this with "amazing-girlfriend, dorm-living" in the keywords list. Obviously people are going to be searching for those 24/7 on WoW Insider. Not.
ThorinII Jan 8th 2008 4:02PM
My wow space is currently under construction. I'll have to remembe to send one in when it's finished. Though, I can promise it won't be as filthy as this guys!
