Breakfast Topic: Icy pets
We've asked what sorts of demons warlocks wish they could summon, as well as what sort of animals druids wish they could shapeshift into. Hunters, too, are due to get an influx of new sorts of pets to tame in Wrath of the Lich King, and already I'm wondering what they'll be -- it's not actually so easy.
To my mind, most of the tamable creatures up there would be icier versions of pets we already have, which are native to Azeroth. Outland had so much more potential in terms of new and exotic pets, yet Blizzard only gave us a few new types, then went and left most of them without any appreciable abilities. Why would anyone tame a spore bat, or a nether ray, when neither of them can train in certain necessary abilities? Why enable these pets if taming them would be so useless? Some people love the dragonhawk, but the only pet from outland everyone agrees was a popular success is the ravager, though it's a bit ugly for my tastes.
So, because it's fun to daydream and speculate, lets imagine what sorts of new pets we'll get to enjoy in Northrend! This means not just wolves and bears with extra spiky icicles or something -- truly new pets we've never seen before. Can you come up with something particularly icy?

I know there's going to be new Boars (or at least the same boars at higher levels) and that makes me happy.
I'd love to see some kind of "icy" white Boar or maybe one that is furry like a wooly mammoth.
No more cats though, please.

Penguins!
With a special wing slap ability.
Penguins are cool.

Some sort of cool White Bengal Tiger. They should start making our pets a little bit more fierce looking :))
I'd also like another type of owl, white with some cool stripes would be nice... i.e. red, orange etc...
White eagle? Panda? lol... They could come up with a lot of fierce and friendly tamable creatures...

How about all the kids that chat on the trade channel.

ROFLMAO You win for best comment!!!
Penguin, walrus, seal, mammoth would be cool and something completely new. Couple days ago, someone asked in General chat why you couldn't tame a Threasher or a shark. The answer seemed obvious, "Because you can't take them out of the water" but if you have any of those above other than a mammoth, you'd have to do something with the land speed, not that a lot of WOW is realistic.
I'd like to see a moose or an elk with a full rack and a charge/gore ability. Or a big horn sheep with kick ability and gore. Ever seen one of those angry?
I'd really like more stable slots so I'm not forced to make a choice between my pets. I would, however, happily get rid of one to have a murloc. I would send it into battle just to watch it die; the essence of "B" movie deaths.

roflmao, trade channel n00bs? i wish
we could make them be silent,
but if a trade channel n00b is a hunter, would that trade channel n00b try and tame other trade channel n00bs?
THINK ABOUT US! they could try to tame us..... :(
its a good point tho
CUT THE SPAM ON THE TRADE CHAT, I COMMAND YOU, YOU INSIGNIFICANT, GAY, STUPID N00BS!

BRK AND HOBBES FOR PRESIDENT!!!

I am not really wanting new pets, why? Because there pet ability system in its current state is broken. Only a handfull of animals are actually useful in PvP, raids and such. It has gotten to where it's expected to be using these few kinds.
I would rather have an extensive library of pet abilities to choose from over new pets.
Bobbysin Jan 9th 2008 8:54AM
Frostfoxes of course!
Anaughtybear Jan 9th 2008 8:53AM
A mini mastodon and a baby seal named "Clubber".
Justo Jan 9th 2008 8:57AM
ice pets would be really kick ass. perhaps pets with some sort of an ice attack.
dAnixx Jan 9th 2008 8:59AM
Frost plaged penguin, what else?
Pyril Jan 9th 2008 9:03AM
Minks, Beavers, Snakes oh my!
peaglemancer Jan 9th 2008 9:35AM
Some sort of angry snowman, with hot-swappable carrot noses to suit each situation.

In typical Blizz fashion the best looking pets are either non-tameable or can not train the best specials abilities (so are useless). The only tameable pets use the same tired skins. /end rant
Would I would love to see is something along the lines of a winterfox, or white hart (they could even use the skin from the untameable stags in ashenvale), or a wolverine!
