New loot added to Zul'Aman timed event
One of the cool features of the 10-man instance, Zul'Aman, is the timed event. It starts with ringing a gong (and the death of not!IndianaJones). After that, the raid has 45 minutes to down 4 of the 6 bosses. Every time a boss is killed a nearby captive will open a chest of phat loot. The first chest always has an armor reward, the second a weapon, the third a ring and the fourth has just one reward: the coveted Amani War Bear. But don't expect to be riding that Bear Mount through Shattrath unless your group is BT geared.According to MMO-Champion, three items have been added to the first chest in Patch 2.3.2. which is great news for those Karazhan equipped raids.
First, is the sweet Cloak of Fiends. It's health dose of Agility, Stamina and Attack Power makes it a dps drool cloth. This was seen on the PTR, but has now finally made it to the Live servers.
Also previewed on the PTR is the Shadowcaster's Drape. Though it has equal parts +Healing and +Damage, it's solid Stamina and Intelligence make it a possible upgrade for dps casters not yet farming the 25-man zones (unless they picked up the Shadow-Cloak of Dalaran out of Karazhan). It's certainly a great cloak for Moonkin. Perfect to go with the next piece.
The Elunite Imbued Leggings have yet to show up on the database sites, but these Moonkin pants are exactly the kind of equipment Balance Druids were promised when Blizzard said they would start itemizing for the spec. There isn't many options comparable to these leggings if a Druid wants to stick to Leather over Cloth. Short of expensive PvP rewards and 25-man raid sets, these britches will make any Moonkin do the funky chicken dance of joy.
And if you are concerned with such things, MMO-Champion has screenshots of their graphical appearance.

The ZA loot is again being grossly underestimated. I am mage and can't speak for other classes because I know that otehr casters don't benifit from haste the way that we do, but over all the ZA loot is the best pre hyjal/BT mage loot in the game for a non spell hit capped mage. The headpiece is 3rd behind the new eng one and the BT one, the shoulders are only beat by hyjal/bt ones, the cape is only beaten by the BT one, the sword is third best only beaten by season 3 and the hyjal one. The boots are only beaten by the Hyjal/BT ones. And the ring is the best dps ring in the game, period. And the best part is that most of the ZA stuff has no spell while the stuff that beats its does. this means that for a mage who is already hit capped, the ZA loot is the best loot in the game, period.
(for the purposes of this post "best" means most PVE raid dps)

great, more gear for the casters. where's the holy paladin love, blizz?

Ok, before my eardrums burst. I need to ask what itemization is a Holy Paladin lacking.
Nearly all the plate that drops in Karazhan is for specifically Holy Paladins or Protection Warriors. The leather comes in 2 varieties as well: Rogues, and Resto Druids.
While Protection and Retribution Paladins can get away with wearing the Warrior Plate, and Ferals with Rogue gear, there are several classes and specs that are left in the cold with regard to Karazhan itemization.
Now, you probably have guessed that I'm a Balance druid, but I also play a Tankadin. Rather than resort to namecalling and STFUs, I'd prefer to get an answer with regard to the plight of Holy Paladins.
What are you missing? What are you needing? I, and others like me, can support the call for increased, specialized itemization that works to the benefit of a class and spec, but I don't think anyone has time for blind whining.

alright, buddy. calm down, it's only a joke.

I want that riding bear. Saw it yesterday in the BGs, and it is so cool. I think it is cooler than the Spectral Tiger, because there is no other bear mount in the game (IIRC). Plus how cool would it be to be riding an bear and then shift into bear :). If only I looked that cool in bear form. /sadface

i Think ur comment about needing to be BT geared to get the 4th timed chest is a bit much.. you just need to practice, and know all the pulls. my guild, who is just in the early phases of SSC and TK have thus far done the first 3 on timed event, and are getting closer to being able to do 4... i figure well get that bear fairly soon

Nice new loot there! I hope I get my hands on the Cloak of Fiends some day.
Besides:
"The Elunite Imbued Leggings have yet to show up on the database sites" isn't exactly true. You can see them here:

Hope that helped.

Is that 4th boss specifically hard? I must say, I've never seen the bear on my server (Echo Isles) and I didn't know it was a 100% drop from the 4th boss; I always figured it as an uber-rare drop like the Barons Mount / the AQ Bug Tank.
I look forward to seeing it though ^_^
Gessilea Jan 17th 2008 12:21PM
As I understand it, it's 100% if you make the timed event to the fourth boss, which is really hard if you're not super well geared.
Ancalimon Jan 17th 2008 12:20PM
is the bear mount available to all in the raid, or does just one person get it?
Adese Jan 17th 2008 12:27PM
If it works like other mount drops, then only one mount drops - you would roll on it like any other item. This is how the horse mount from Attunemen in Kara works (and the raptor/tiger mounts from ZG, as well) so I would guess that the bear mount works that way, too.
Gessilea Jan 17th 2008 12:20PM
On the one hand, I'm really happy about the balance gear. On the other hand, why is Blizzard still using the short pants graphic? So freaking ugly.

ZA is tuned and aimed at guilds just finishing Karazhan. As such it makes no sense whatsoever for it to require you to be BT geared to get sub-BT quality loot.
Perhaps you just need to find better players to raid with..

"Though it has equal parts +Healing and +Damage, it's solid Stamina and Intelligence make it a possible upgrade for dps casters not yet farming the 25-man zones"
./boggle Spell damage doesn't come any other way! and for any caster who thinks Haste is a good idea (some don't) that is a very nice upgrade even from the kara cloak.
(I am of course discounting single-school +dmg, as it is more rare and limited to specific purpose items.)

I got the Shadowcaster's drape on my first ZA run last sunday, unfortunately I already had the shadow-cloak of dalaran. But it will be nice if I ever get enough haste to have some fun in PVP.
