Around Azeroth: Into the Well of Eternity
This may not be the most scenic of shots, but the interest is all in the location. Reader Jim sends us this image from the Well of Eternity in Hyjal. I'll let Jim explain the scene:
You drop in by where Archimonde stands and swim vertically down for about a minute until you see the bottom. There's not really much to see - just a few bubbles, a big rock and your breath indicator slowly dropping. Upon entering the water you receive a debuff called Eternal Silence that states "Overwhelming magical energy from the Well of Eternity prevents spellcasting."
Do you have any unusual World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? Because we'd love to see your idea of the best looking instance on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@wow.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!

I have a screenshot of myself almost exactly like this that I took like over a year and a half ago when I snuck into Hyjal on the test server. Of course, there was no Archimonde there at the time.... My favorite screenshot from that trip though was the one next to the construction barrier that says "Blizzard Construction Co." or something.

I've been into the present day Hyjal- it looks exactly the same...cept Archimonde's skeleton is HUGE compared to how he looks in the actual instance.

Just a quick correction. This is not the Well of Eternity, which blew up in The Sundering and would have been near about where the Maelstrom now stands(or exists at least). This is the well of water Illidan created after the sundering, upon which the world tree Nordrassil was created with the blessing of the dragons. Illidan, for his efforts, was imprisoned for 10,000 years and got a little... wacky with Maiev as his only conversation partner.

You do realize why they have that debuff at the bottom? You can find some youtube/google video of people summoning people in the depths of what may be the well or another aquatic location. Once the unsuspecting person accepts, they find themselves too deep to swim up and drown.
A little warlock unending breath or other trinkets/gear (deep dive helmet anyone) and you can do some same faction griefing for giggles and glory.

For sure, I recall before they put in the ’you went somewhere you shouldn’t have been’ debuff I was over there. That place was killer deep. I am confused, though. If that is an image from the CoT Hyjal location, it is inconsistent with the images from past. The reason the Hyjal of present has that is because the World Tree was destroyed, it’s roots killed, and Archimonde with it. The one of the past should be on a hill, the area covered in rich fertile grass, the water beneath not even visible anymore. I would blame the Infinite dragons, but as far as I have heard this is one area they are actually not doing anything. Odd, truly odd.

We used to go to the present day Hyjal (not the instance) and spam trade chat with will give you 100g if you accept the summon and live! We'd then summon people up there and watch em die. Only one guy made it.
