Can you smell what The Rokk is cookin?
With the release of patch 2.3 every cooker level 275 and up found a new way to make an easy 7g a day with the daily food quest. While it might not seem like a lot, an extra 49g a week is a night's repair bill if you're a tank. The only downside to keeping up with the daily quest is the rather annoying farming you need to do. Some of the mats for the food items are spread out in rarely visited places in Outland. While we've covered the wonders of this daily quest before, there is a great little trick to cut down on the time necessary to farm the food... and that is to create you own cupboard of food! While your cupboard might seem bare and filled with mostly Ramen Noodles at first, within a couple weeks of quests you'll find yourself well stocked with all the gourmet items you could ever want.
Besides the items you need to have the quest in your log to get, you can store a TON of premade food that'll cut down on your quest time dramatically. The items you want to save up are:
Warp Burgers (from Warped Flesh)
Roasted Clefthoof (from Clefthoof Meat)
Mok'Nathal Shortribs (from Raptor Ribs)
Crunchy Serpent (from Serpent Flesh)
Now the key to getting these items, instead of having to go and farm them day after day, is to select the reward of a "Crate of Meat" when turning in the daily quest. The crate will drop the raw form of the above food often enough, and within two weeks time, you'll have more Mok'Nathal short ribs then you know what to do with! In fact, after a month of doing this quest, your cupboard will be so large that you can sell a large portion of it on the AH and make quite a nice bit of gold.
Happy eating!

I do that. Works nice except for the Mana Berries quest.

A stock of food is nice, but as a raiding priest I like to choose the fish. I get Golden Darter and Zangarian Sporefish frequently enough that (between my 2 high level cooks) I don't have to fish anymore to raid!

Yeah, I've gotten pretty lazy with this quest. I usually only do it when it's the Spiritual Soup or the soup you have to cook over a demon in Blades Edge. The Kaliri Stew/Mana Berries are too much of a pain now that I've purchased the epic mount.
It's awesome though - as a caster I use Blackened Basilisk or Crunchy Serpent all the time, and I have tons of it stockpiled and it has earned me gold as well. Big fan of the quests...plus picking up all the random recipes was cool. I thought they did a really awesome job with this daily - mix it up, get some gold, get something useful (cooking materials) and get cool recipes. Stormchops FTW.

My guild has a tab in the gbank that is nothing but consumables, so I get the cooking daily quest take out any food I need to finish the quest, complete the quest, get my crate of meat or barrel of fish, cook everything from the quest reward and deposit it all back in the gbank. I get the nice g reward from doing a quick daily and plus the guild always has food buffs for raids.

the quest is so easy its crazy...the ribs and flesh are in BE where the orgrilla daily's are...and the kaliri wing and warp burgers are where the skettis daily's are...EZ MONAAYY

I also kept stock of food in my bank for the cooking daily. Made it the easiest 7g per day on my way to epic flight.
Now that I have my epic I've had to abandon this and other dailies so I can do all my netherwing dailies, but on my last cooking daily before I had to eliminate it I got the recipe for delicious chocolate cake.

Excellent points on saving the meat up! That crate and barrel have stocked me well enough for the meager raiding I ever do, with enough left over that I seldom have to kill a serpent or a raptor, much less a warp stalker.
Keep on cookin'! Great article.

This is a good tip, but really, you're still going to have to go somewhere anyway. Either to do the cooking AT the Spiritual Grounds, over the demon, or to go get the Skettis wings.
I forget if the birds stop dropping the wings once you get one, though. Can you hoard the wings in any way, so you could complete that quest without having to leave?
All this said, I do this quest sometimes, depending on the quest. I find the Demon Broiled Surprise to be the one with the most annoying work (flying all over and killing, and BE isn't exactly auto-fly friendly), Manalicious is simple and the skinning is good while I'm there, Revenge is Tasty is good to get some Skettis rep and do those dailies too, and Soup for the Soul is so easy (FP to Garadar, auto-fly towards Spiritual Grounds, alt-tab, come back, cook, reverse or hearth). I already have both the rare recipes from The Rokk (the cake and the stormchops) so I get the meat crate, or if I'm feeling generous, pick the fish and cook stuff up for magic guildies :)
On a side note, I like the Stormchops, but the eels are a pain on my server, rarely on AH and i'm not a fisher. Plus they tend to break CC in a group.

You can, in fact, save one Kaliri Wing for another time.
1. Get the "Revenge is Tasty" quest.
2. Kill Monstrous Kaliri for a wing. Combine it with 3 warp burgers
3. Kill Monstrous Kaliri for another wing.
4. Turn in quest.

Excellent tip, Swiss.

I always select the Barrel of Fish. Considering that it gives you fish you can use for +30 stam food, +healing and +spelldamage food, it's the only one to choose for raiding.
You also have a chance to receive a Golden Vendorfish, which sells for 6g! (I've gotten quite a few of those)
Naturii Jan 25th 2008 3:23PM
I normally take the meat but I have taken the fish a few times. I rec'd 3 off hand fish in one box and sold them all on the AH for 5g, not bad.
I have the stormchops recipe but I don't fish. I'm still waiting for freaking Kibler's Bits to drop for me.
mike Jan 25th 2008 3:35PM
I normally try to do the daily cooking cause it's easy money.
I dont know if it's just my server, but the daily cooking quest has a strange rotation. We had mana barries 4 days in a row.
Cap Jan 25th 2008 4:01PM
As another person alluded to, if you go to Skettis or Blade's Edge for the cooking dailies, don't forget to do the quick dailies that are found there, like the two bombing run quests, the escort quest in Skettis, and the Simon Says game in BEM. 7g isn't much for the cooking quest, but combine that with the 24g from two other dailies, and it becomes.... well, 31g!
peaglemancer Jan 25th 2008 4:04PM
Months of doing this daily and still no chocolate cake reciepe for me. :'{
SaintStryfe Jan 25th 2008 5:47PM
Keep it up. I just got it yesterday.
I've gotta make a few cakes for when we compete Kara tommorrow.
Bibble Jan 25th 2008 5:48PM
Nice article, Adam! Keep 'em coming! :)
monkeyhouse Jan 26th 2008 8:57AM
you just got one HUGE detail wrong... you also need to be lvl 70 to get the quests. i guess because you need the flying mount for some of them.
i can't tell you how disappointed i was at lvl 68 when i could not pick them up.
