Breakfast Topic: Lucky loot and other personal practices
In a world of dice rolls and random number generators, its not too strange to get a little superstitious. Like we've touched on before, every raid has their own dark rituals they perform before or during a raid, whether that be rolling dice to predict success or sacrificing their enhancement shaman to the loot gods. But what about the players?Personally, when my raid hits a roadblock against some boss, I equip my good luck charm. I've used it in all of our "big" firsts: Lady Vashj, Kael'thas, and Archimonde have all fallen to the might of the Shard of the Fallen Star. I'm sure my raidmates are tired of seeing that thing in the middle of an epic battle, but it works, so don't knock it! Besides, a giant meteor falling out of the sky and hitting Archimonde is totally awesome.
I've seen mages equipping their fishing hats for specific bosses and warlocks summoning their favorite demon, no matter how useless it is, when they're in need of a little good luck. What about you guys? Do you do anything special to shed the bad mojo?

I have the snowshoe rabbit non-combat pet. I call him Mr Bunnsy, and whenever we have a run that just isn't going well I usually blame the fact that Mr Bunnsy wasn't out. Because I'm a healer I like to think that my non-combat pet is largely non-annoying to others. Kudos to anyone who got the Terry Pratchett reference:
"One day, when he was naughty, Mr Bunnsy looked over the hedge into Farmer Fred's field and it was full of fresh green lettuces. Mr Bunnsy, however, was not full of lettuces. This did not seem fair"

I rub the tank.
Now I'm the tank and I feel violated. So very violated...

Our raids have a few major superstitions. One is that 24 (as in short one raid member) is our lucky number. We've gotten several guild first kills with our last attempt of the night because someone had to leave and we decided to make one more go without the trouble of getting in a replacement. Gruul, Magtheridon (with only one warlock to boot) and a couple others that I can't recall all fell with only 24 Modus Operandi guildies in the raid.

If Lurky (http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=15358) dances, smooth kill and good loot.

Yep, I usually deploy Murky when things need to get serious!

i tab out and close everything non-essential that is not WoW...
it's really meaningless, but i need some sort of "it's serious time now" gesture.

Archmage Vargoth is my copilot.
Kezzy Mar 19th 2008 1:43PM
Same with our guild! Sometimes as many as six Archmage Vargoths have been sighted simultaneously during our raids.

SLEEPY WILLY! When the going gets rough, I bring out my willy!
(wait, that sooo didn't sound right...)
But Willys' been my good luck charm since the day I got him! I used to get the normal "Bahs" but now that's a part of prep time. "Aurendar, what's Willy's status...?"
Hehehe,
Aurendar

I just use my macro, which states "%t must die! I alone am best!" This is accompanied by various keks and it somehow makes everyone play harder. We downed Attumen, Maiden and Moroes on the first try with it. Bloodhound Gang quotes in a macro FTW.

When I feel it's time to stop wiping and smash a boss, I pull out the old classic:
Gentho says: srs face, bitches :|

I once had a really bad run in ZA with another guild where the raid leader kept complaining about the group taking too much damage during the eagle boss. I told my guild, jokingly, that this was part of the boss strategy. Now when I'm in there with my guild, someone always complains about how much damage people are taking, and we always kill him.

Egbert. He does all the running around like a chicken with its head chopped off for us.

Mark the boss with "nipple", never fails.

In my old raiding guild, we spent about an hour wiping on Ossi in AQ20. The warlocks then put Unending Breath on everyone in the raid (including the pets) and we beat him on that attempt. It became a bit of a good luck charm for a while.

I won't wear anything except masks and hoods (I'm a rogue). Anything that leaves my face exposed goes to the AH, GB or a vendor. I've done it ever since I first got a Red Defias Mask.

My Emerald Whelping! As soon as I bring him out and we /love, /kiss, /hug on him, our boss fight goes awesome :) My fave fights to use him on is Prince for good infernals and High King for a smooth pull lol
