Ah, Tuesday! And as usual, all US realms are down (extended maintenance this week -- it started a few hours early), the official World of Warcraft website is extremely sluggish, and the forums are jumping on and offline... What's a player to do!? (To European players in the audience, you're probably looking forward to the same on Wednesday.) The realms are scheduled to come back up in about an hour and a half (presuming maintenance runs as scheduled, but I suggest being prepared for the worst), but while we're waiting, it seems like a good time to chat about what we're all up to during these downtimes. Do you run to other MMOs? Pull out your copy of Starcraft? Take the dogs for a walk? (Sorry, cat owners -- I don't know what you would do.) Stare at the breaking news box in hopes that it will change? And maybe some of you out there have even better ideas... so tell us, how do you spend your downtime hours?| Play another MMO -- when else would I find the time? | |

I'm usually at work or school at the time. With servers usually being up by 11 AM here, so it's really not a problem for me. I only really like to play later at night, though if I have a Tuesday off, I do hate when I'm up all night and realize I played through an entire morning to hit a server shutdown.. So that was fun.

Europe is mostly centered around 1-2 timezones, so the downtime at 3am doesn't really bother me. I tend to be asleep around that time.

Back when Tuesdays were a day off for me I really didn't like downtime. And of course I'd never remember the downtime, so I'd wake up, make coffee and sit down at the computer. It wouldn't be until after I'd popped open WoW that I'd remember.
So I'd spend the next three or four hours photoshopping my head on the bodies of various animals.

By the time I get back from school, EU maintenance is already done.
Even if it wouldn't be done by then, I have plenty of Internets to browse.

Tuesday morning has become hell for me...I work nights and only have class MWF...I read up on WOW related stuff and troll the IMDB boards but that's only fun for about an hour.

Generally, because I work 8-4 Monday through Friday, they can take the servers off line after I go to bed on Monday night and bring them back Tuesday afternoon and I'd be no wiser that something had been done. The few times I happened to be home on maintenance day were chances to get caught up on things I should be doing when I'm playing WOW. (Today I'm at work, eating lunch and getting caught up on my WOWInsider.)
