Due for more Polymorph options
Here's a good idea from the forums: more sheep choices! Polymorph was one of the most beloved spells in the Warcraft RTS games, and so players were thrilled to see it come to World of Warcraft, and even more thrilled when two other variations on the spell were learned: instead of sheeping, players can either polymorph pig or turtle with two learned spells from quests or drops in the game. But since the introduction of Zul'Gurub, we haven't seen any other options for mages in game. And there are plenty to choose from by now-- Polymorph: Ravager, Polymorph: Clefthoof, or Polymorph: Elekk would all work great. Polymorph: Willy would even be lots of fun. Oh, and yes, as players in the thread say, since we're headed to Northrend, Polymorph: Penguin would not be out of order in the next expansion.
Blizzard has done a pretty good job of taking mounts, both flying and ground-based, towards a little horizontal progress-- giving more options on one level instead of setting up a few options over multiple levels. But hopefully Polymorph will get a little love, too-- even though mages are the only ones who benefit directly, my guild has always had fun making sure our mages have all the Polymorph options possible.

I Think it has to be a critter. Which includes gnomes.

I still think you should be able to kill mobs and players who are killed under the influence of Polymorph.
That said: I'm all for new and interesting variants on existing spells. Polymorph: Frog, Polymorph: Snake, Polymorph: Gazelle... the models are already there. :)

And by "should be able to kill" I mean "should be able to skin". :/

"But since the introduction of Zul'Gurub..."
Polymorph Turtle and Pig were added much later then ZG. i think it was the major mage patch (when they release class based patches) where they released them.
But don't forget they have added a polymorph since turtle and pig, just not for all mages.
Engineers get polymorph chicken, which was added in Burning Crusade.
So yes while i'd love some new ones, you can't really say we aren't getting any.

Whatever they add, I'm sure the mages will find a way to complain about it.

My troll mage would like to be able to turn people into a frog, just like all of the troll mages in instances do.
How about racial polymorphs?

It's too bad the Faction Cities don't have Quartermasters with Epic loots. Learning a optional Polymorph from a purchased spellbook would be a great implementation. Exalted reputation with the Darkspears could teach Polymorph: Crab, as they're a people of fishermen. Silvermoon could teach Polymorph: Ent, matching the skills of the mobs in the Botanica. Likewise Cows for Stormwind, Bats for Undercity, etc etc.

What good is a polymorph spell if it gives people the urge to smack it?
Blacksabre Jan 30th 2008 6:23PM
A Polymorph: Bush spell would fail, since Bush already has the intellect of a turtle.

I think Blizzard should focus on addressing the issues Mages (and all the other classes) have, rather than throw in new toys that at the end of the day, bring no additional utility since only one enemy can be polymorphed at any time regardless of form.
Anyways good luck trying to make a cuter polymorph than the little piggy.
