Very nice handling of life as a hybrid. I do occaisionally run into other hybrids who don't ever want to fall back and heal for any reason, even if it's clear the group is going south and a couple of extra heals here and there could turn the tide.
I've also run into enhance shaman who won't drop totems but that's another matter--and not one I really understand.
"My advice here is to break out whatever DPS offset you've collected that plays to your strengths and is the most effective. Generally most resto shamans I know tend towards preferring an elemental playstyle to an enhancement one (I'm different in that I love enhancement and will always choose melee over casting if I have a choice) but with recent talent changes, you can always strap on melee stat mail and throw on a big 2h weapon."
A thought and a question--my first thought is that with a heal set that is at 1800-just over 2k +heal depending upon what I have on and buffs, it's far better for me to dps in my heal gear, especially with the higher levels of stamina.
The built in +dmg based upon my +heal is actually higher if I keep my healing gear on (because yes, my elemental set is lacking and honestly, I don't like playing a dps caster). It also means if backup healing is required, I'm geared to dish it out in quantities.
My question--I've not actually tried the whole melee as resto and when I'm not resto I prefer to be enhancement. I have a reasonably nice enhance offset. This seriously works for dps if I'm full resto spec and the 2nd healer in the run? I've never tried it, and I have to confess I might just check it out--bah, now I need to get a 2 hander, I've only collected 1 handers for dual wield XD

If your +heal set is significantly better than your elemental set (my +heal set has about 700 spell damage, whereas my elemental set easily breaks 1000) then yes, stay in that.
As for the wearing of enhancement mail, I do have several kara epics and an epic 2h in my orc shaman's set. So that might be why I prefer it. The better the gear set, the more results you'll see, and in my case I just plain LIKE enhancement gear and the playstyle better.
