Oxhorn has landed a gig with WeGame, a video sharing site with a twist. WeGame not only allows you to upload your machinima, it also provides you with a free desktop client for filming. If you can't afford to pay for Fraps or any of the other options, WeGame is your best bet.
Read on for more about Oxhorn's new job and WeGame ...
When I first heard about WeGame opening up, I was shocked to see that Oxhorn was not only already signed up, but he had his own channel. That's why his January 28th announcement came as no surprise. The job required him to move from Seattle to San Francisco, so in typical Oxhorn-style, he filmed it.
Oxhorn's nearly three minute video focuses on his move from a WoW standpoint. He is given a quest by WeGame and must complete certain objectives on his journey. If you look closely, you can see a cameo by Hat, who is on the dashboard working on his tan.
What will this mean for Oxhorn's machinima? As Creative Director for WeGame, he'll be producing his own work there and also providing support to others. However, he assures his viewers that they'll still see some of his work on YouTube, even if it's just a trailer. I think this job will be good for him, as he'll have time to focus exclusively on machinima, versus being worn out after spending all day working on other things.
As for the website itself, there is a full writeup on Massively, but the key points are:
- It's a free program.
- If you like the clip and don't want to edit it, it will compress it and upload it from the desktop app.
- You can edit it in a third party program.
- It's not your typical rating site. You can only "Like" something, or comment on it.
