Netherstorm summoning restriction to be removed
To accompany the information about patch 2.4 regarding the ability to summon into instances, Tigole popped into the Elitist Jerks forums with another handy detail. The restriction on summoning in Netherstorm is going to be removed entirely! Hooray! While this change won't vastly alter gameplay, it's another nice little convenience thing. Those are usually the most enjoyable changes, I think. This far into the game, there really isn't much need to keep Tempest Keep restricted to those with flying mounts. Plus, as all of the level 68 Druids with their Flight Form have displayed, you don't need to be top level to do some damage in most of Tempest Keep either.
This seems like it might be another change with the intent of opening the game up to more players and speeding up the content to prepare for Wrath of the Lich King, but most people I know never liked the summoning restriction anyway. I, for one, am glad to see it go.

I was just QQing about this over the weekend. Turned 68 on my priest, can heal, need my arc frag, can LFG Mech even, just CAN'T get in there! Annoying to say the least! I could easily be attuned (though not geared enough) for Kara before i hit 69! if only i could get a summons into that damn area! So i will just have to heal Shattered Halls and Slabs a million more times until i hit 70! And i can't even LFG them!
I think that the LFG system could do with a little tweaking, even though this isn't what the thread is about just my $0.02

Might want to check your spelling on the title....

Why is Tigole over on the Elitist Jerks forums? Isn't this deserving of a blue post on the official forums? I'm mean it's a free internet. the guy can go and post where ever he likes. But it does seem a strange crowd to get chummy with

Well, since Warlocks now (2.4) can summon INTO a instance, I guess it's stupid to limit the summoning in Netherstorm.

Remamber that by removing those restrictions, besicaly blizzards alowed ppl without flying mount to enter kara.
Midore Feb 4th 2008 8:57AM
Ok, so for the exception of druids...a toon, lets name him "somemoron", is going to be knowledgeable and geared enough to enter KZ just because he can shell out the 1k gold for a flying mount?
Teri Feb 4th 2008 5:25AM
Since they allow people to get summoned inside instances, you coulda have summoned them without a flying mount in the first place in 2.4 , cause I doubt the requirement check would check for having a flying mount or flight form in your possession.
People used to use noggenfogger and somehow slowfall to the mechanar/botanica instances in beta before 70, but they fixed that by adding the cooldown (gone now) and changing the duration of the slowfall of it.
BC has been out long enough that this change to summons will have no negative effect. So, a good change, even while I'm not really affected by it.

I guess since Northrend 70-80 will be land-based anyway (AFAIK), having a higher mount restriction earlier on in Outlands 60-70 made less sense.

This whole summoning restriction removal is going to be painful for the Warlocks. It's already a hassle enough gathering soul shards, now I'll be eating through even more of them.
I enjoyed NOT being a portable teleporter in Netherstorm now I can't even have that relief...

If what you say is true and warlocks can summon DIRECTLY into a instance... Newbs will be kara attuned in ~20 mins with a well co-ordinated guild... doesnt that seem wrong??!!
You can port a lvl 68 direct to the key fragments....
Or have i overlooked something?

I'd agree it'll add to the idiots overreaching their gear/abilities and add one more reason never to run pugs. That said it's a godsend for people, like me, attuning their nth alt through the same tedious process as the first (n-1)th times. Probably even moreso for guilds who want to bring said alts through gearing quickly to tun higher raids.
Mr. Applebutter Feb 4th 2008 10:11AM
WTF cares if you can kara attune easily? It's an easy dungeon. People who have never raided before learn the fundamentals of a basic raid there. This BT we're talking about here.
Theodore Feb 4th 2008 10:58AM
My Point, and there was no need to be rude,
was that people will be skipping the lurning curve that is kara attunement...

I never even knew this was a problem. Turn 70 already ... geez. It's not like flying mounts cost a lot either.
Invictus Feb 4th 2008 1:29PM
You're missing the point. The main point isn't that you need a flying mount, but that you need to be level 70 to get into Netherstorm instances because of the need to fly. Currently, everyone except druids needs to be level 70 before they can get in, which means they need to be level 70 before they can get Kara attuned.
