The Legendary Sisterhood shakes up Sentinels

They're formed a guild called "The Legendary Sisterhood" over on Sentinels' Horde side-- it consists only of Blood Elf female mages and priests. It's a weird cross between a cult, a party, and a griefer guild-- the denizens of Sentinels have reacted to their actions with the expected confusion. We only know there are rules: every member of the guild must have a name that starts with "Sister" (as in Sisteramy), and there is a hierarchy within the guild, topped by a dark and mysterious Queen. It's an RP guild for non-RPers-- there are weird rituals, various attacks on opposite faction capital cities, and just general mayhem. In short, it sounds awfully fun.
I'm not a huge fan of RP-ing (our own David Bowers knows much more about it than I do), but I'm not sure this is RPing or not-- they're just having fun with an old fantasy mechanic of the secret society and playing together in a way that doesn't necessarily require reaching the endgame. The guild is the character in this case, not the players themselves.
[Thanks, Mark!]

Someone from TLS contacted us to say that yes, they are an RP guild, even though they consist of a bunch of people who haven't RP'd much before. They also would like those on Sentinels to lay off-- apparently a lot of "legit" RPers have attacked those behind the guild (see forum thread linked above), and there's no basis for things like that. They say that they have had a few beggars in the guild, but they're working with those players to cut that out.
It should be interesting to see where this goes-- apparently one of the guild's leaders has been working on actual lore behind the guild for a while, so it'll be intriguing to see how it all pans out.

If begging's not wrong from the guild's point of view then there's no need to be 'working' to fix it. My point isn't about IC or OoC. It's simply that if you want your guild to be free from beggars then you demand that your members stop outright. There's nothing whatsoever to be gained from 'working' out the issue. You don't tell your beggars they're allowed to beg from five people this week, but only four next and gradually ween them off or something. It's either OK and you let them continue, or it isn't. And you have them stop or leave.

sounds like a pretty cool idea for a guild!

If only a rp pvp server could beat a pvp server. I have known many people who rp. I fail to see them out in public at bars, night clubs, and the work force.
I fail to see any connection between roleplaying and "playing more" (actually, I fail to see any connection between your post and intelligence.). I'd say PvP regulars are the ones you wouldn't see at bars, night clubs and the workforce. After all, most of them are 13 years old, aren't allowed in most bars and clubs and they don't work either.
The Sterotyping Crusade has started, who's next.

"actually, I fail to see any connection between your post and intelligence."
I guess it's over your head.
"I'd say PvP regulars are the ones you wouldn't see at bars, night clubs and the workforce."
Maybe on the alliance side you will find the 13+ year old crowd. The guild I am apart of is a min age of 23, must be relaxed, any drama and your kicked.

I know a lot of rpers too. Some fit the stereotype you mention, then there are the ones with families, jobs or going to school. There's all different sorts; equally true for pvp players too.
The Sisterhood reminds me of an rp gimmick used in a Wizards of the Coast chatroom ages ago. Various regulars all made up priests who were anti-wizard. Eventually it spread to cover creatures of magic, non-humans, and a few other things as well. Sometimes it's good in a story to have someone everyone can hate.

Huh, I fail to see the problem, and if I were on an RP server, I'd find what these folks are doing at least interesting. Even begging is hardly unreasonable, if done right, it might even be less annoying than the beggars I see all the time on my regular server.

Beggars were pretty common in the medieval world World of Warcraft takes inspiration from. But they were hardly the arrogant jerks I see on my RPPVP server all the times.
Insistence and arrogance, back then, would have been awarded with a quick sword slash.

As the guild leader of a respected -REAL- RP guild on Sentinels, I can tell you all first hand that this is NOT a roleplaying guild. Perhaps they were created with INTENT to roleplay, but every single sister that I have run into has been ANTI-RP, openly attacking us in /say as well as /emote (doing so out of character, which is against RP server rules) whenever we TRY to RP with them. The so called -LEGIT- RPers aren't ANGRY with these people. In fact, the majority don't even CARE about them. The problem is that since they've arrived, they've treated the rest of us like dirt.
Don't tell me that Sisterangus and Sisterqtip are roleplayers.
Ktok Feb 5th 2008 10:20AM
As the first person to narc on Sisterqtip for having a stupid name (Yes, I'm Izaac the surly Warlock), I would like to second the idea that they are not in any way an RP guild.
These people are on an RP server for one reason, and that reason is because they see us as a joke. Their actions thus far have been extremely anti-RP, mocking, and downright rude toward actual RPers.
Their ultimate goal, raiding Alliance cities, is exactly what I predicted it would be when I first saw a gaggle of people with Sister in their name, even before they made the guild. If they want to "RP" and want to ultimately have a PvP focus... here's a novel idea. How about they get off of our server and roll on a, god, I duno... an RP-PvP server?
Oh wait, that would be too hard and take too much work to hit 70 with a bunch of Priests and Mages.
In the mean time, I am now forced to level an Alliance alt so I can help kill them someday. At the very least, I swear to tip the Alliance off to every one of their raids... and I'm hardcore pro-Horde. I hate them that much.
Aephid Feb 5th 2008 10:55AM
Like Ion-cat and Ktok, I have had numerous negative experiences with the sisters. On my druid alt, every time I would try to level in the Ghostlands, a train of these sisters would run by and do mass /spit emotes at me. I went the entire day leveling in this zone just getting spit on and laughed at. When I confronted one of them in-character, I was ignored.
I have also seen accounts of these sisters babbling nonsense in /say and trading cheese to other people and interrupting RP sessions that are currently going on. On Aephid, my blood elf main, I have had a couple GOOD experiences with two of their members. One of them was role playing with me last night in the Silvermoon Tavern, and since she was putting the time and effort in I of course I decided to be nice to her and welcome her. But it really is the jerks that are ruining their reputation and making them so incredibly unlikable. They're such a huge guild, and gaining more and more members every day that it's getting even harder for the guild leader to police them.
They shouldn't just let everyone and their mother into the guild if they have true intentions of sticking around the server and wanting to role play, because it just ruins the experience for the good ones.

This article is a bunch a BS. Get your facts straight. That thread is full of complaints about them harrassing Sentinel's members by for example spitting on them.
They are not legit in anyway. Their names should be violating the ToS naming policy of no titles in names and no religious themes.
-Rper from Sentinels
Ferret Feb 5th 2008 6:13PM
Oh, they seem like "RP" unless of course you are actually from Sentinels and have to deal with this fluffy little group. Really, if you find them so cute, please take them.
Reddeth Feb 7th 2008 12:26PM
Well, for the record, I was in Deatholme tonight helping my wife level her Belf and was treated curteously and in fine RP form by the sisters I met. Must've been at least 5 of them, and the showed much respect to my l70 Ork.

Having heard the podcast, I'm wondering why the link text hasn't been changed from "an anti-RP RP guild" to something more like "an RP guild for non-RPers" ... If you don't want to change the original post so much, maybe put in a clarifying statement at the head of the post? - you know that most people tend to give more attention to the first paragraph than to the rest of an article (if they even bother to read it at all).
Leaving the post unchanged will continue to fan the flames.
