Once upon a time, the
"Under Development" page on the official site was a great way to keep up with what was coming to Azeroth in the weeks and months ahead. These days it's pretty infrequently updated, but every once in a while it's still the first place we find new tidbits. Today is one of those days; a bunch of new content was added to the page, and here's what's new as far as I can tell:
- "New Daily Quests and Interactive Quest Hub" will be part of patch 2.4's Sunwell Plateau
- New repeatable Battleground quests
- "Some PvP rewards now obtainable through PvE content" -- say what? I wonder how this is going to work. Badges as equivalent to honor points or something?
- A portal to the Caverns of Time "accessible through reputation with the Keepers of Time."
Did I miss anything else? Or is some of this old news? I for one welcome our new portal to the CoT, since it was getting pretty obnoxious with all the flying and the riding every time I needed to work on someone's Karazhan attunement or whatever.
[Thanks,
Boubouille]

"Some PvP rewards now obtainable through PvE content"
I think the level 70 blue gear is coming back in as reputation rewards from various factions. Should give people more of a start in pvp when they hit 70.
Assuming you didnt grind a full epic pvp set on the way ^^;

See, I wouldn't mind them giving the level 70 blue or season 1 PVP gear as a faction exalted purchased items. Would help flesh out some off spec sets (ie Ret) for fun or profit.
As for the port to COT, it will not only help 5mans, but also raids doing Hyjal. I already use my gadget transporter on my pally.
I am anxiously waiting to see what badge, rep and Magister's Terrace(the 5man) loot we will be able to get. Loot in Sunwell is all well and good, but practically no one will get a chance at it. Lets hear about something I can get with some ease.
Oh, and the upcomming rep grind will turn the plateau into the new Silithus

I agree with Deji. Why not start new level 70s off being remotely competitive instead of 100% smoked by opponents? I'm sure it will needs reverred rep, not just honored.

if they make new Heroic Badge stuff I order...
- Enhancement Shaman gear for every slot.
- Cloth Healing Shoulders.
can't come up with more :3

I'm liking the portal to CoT.

Regarding the pvp/pve gear change:
Will they do the opposite? I could sure use a new healing trinket.

Oooh ... Portal to CoT? Nice!
Kuroyume Feb 4th 2008 4:15PM
i agree with how cool a portal to CoT would be...
also, i smell PTR going up soon...

Portal to CoT, brilliant!
peaglemancer Feb 4th 2008 4:30PM
I think the portal to CoT slightly nerfs the value of the transporter trinket to Gadget. In return for this nerf please make all engineering trinkets non-equip needed like the jumper cables XL.
Urthona Feb 4th 2008 6:39PM
Or make them another hearthstone. Meaning: you can choose which transporter you want to have it work for. Everlook no longer useful? Choose A52 to be your home.

"New repeatable Battleground quests"
I hope these address the rep grind issue for AB and WSG. I know they want to make the rep grind to Justicar difficult, but the current setup makes it all but impossible to get exalted with those two factions (whereas rep grind for AV is, OTOH, trivially easy).

Don't we already have that?
I go to the Alterac Valley battleground all the time.
/sarcasm

I'm a little bit worried that repeatable BG quests will lead to more presets, which is already a problem. More presets=less problems? Maybe.
The changes to AV are also concerning. Horde already loses the rush game and we can't defend anything once IB gets taken. Pushing us back more makes defense even more important, and if we defend IB successfully it means Alliance gets no honor, which is already a problem. So either Horde gets defeated 100% of the time in rush games or Horde wins games based on reinforcements. I don't know, sounds like it's still not a great design and doesn't really fix anything, at least not yet.

"A portal to the Caverns of Time "accessible through reputation with the Keepers of Time.""
What good is a portal to there once you've already grinded up the rep? 'Congrats! Here's a portal now. Don't ya wish you'd had this 5 weeks ago?'
Bloodelfer Feb 5th 2008 1:44AM
pvp here, pvp there
im getting sick of this -.-

"A portal to the Caverns of Time "accessible through reputation with the Keepers of Time.""
So does this mean a new neutral portal in shat, or a mage port spell? either way, I'm a happy boy.

@15
A portal to CoT may indicate that Blizz is going to further develop the caverns in future patches, BM and OH were voted the most desirable of the 5 man instances.
Zarzuur Feb 5th 2008 9:28AM
It looks like they are trying to balance out the "welfare epics" issue by doing the reverse, countering the BG/Arena-only rush, and so preventing PvE dungeons from being less run.
