Hunters, say hello to Thori'dal
The WoW community has wasted no time in tearing apart the patch 2.4 files in search of goodies, and goodies they have found! The patch notes themselves didn't blow me away, but this tidbit got me a little excited. The new legendary bow in the Sunwell Plateau is named Thori'dal, the Stars' Fury. It's quite impressive indeed!According to the spells attached to it, Thori'dal requires absolutely no ammo. It apparently creates its own and it looks like the bow's DPS is jacked high enough that you'll suffer no loss from the lack of ammunition. To make the deal even sweeter, Thori'dal comes equipped with a passive haste buff that nulls the need for a quiver. Congratulations on your Legendary, hunters! Here, have a bag slot!
I'll admit, I don't play a hunter, but this bow seems like a pretty sweet deal all around. Agility, crit, haste, armor penetration, and free ammo. Just about the only thing it doesn't do is conjure s'mores. Keep in mind, though, this thing is still on the PTR. Any stats or spells you see attached to this bow may or may not be there the day it hits the live servers!
If you want to take a gander at the stats, check it out after the jump!

Thanks, MMO Champ!

MMO Champ has the spells attached to this weapon listed on their website. They were pulled from the game files themselves.
The no ammo I refer to is this spell here:
"46699 : Requires No Ammo - Thori'dal generates magical arrows when the bow string is drawn. Does not use ammo."

14 posts... 5 negative.. so around 1/3 of wow players will cry no matter what... seems about right

yeah, the stats are a little weak, but the extra bag slot if true is absolutely huge. Think of all the crap you could carry aroud instead of arrows. And 30g per day isn't to be laughed at. Sure we can afford it, but it's the little things. Anyway ammo isn't 30g per day and we dont raid and go through a quiver every single day. But for me this says *farmers toll*,

Lol i'd roll a hunter just for this bow.... the idea of not carrying arrows to me sounds huge.

Plug it into the spreadsheet, its anywhere from 100-150 more DPS for a Beast Mastery Hunter, depending on gear.
Of course, its yet another Legendary that will be replaced within a reasonable amount of time after hitting 80, and one can only hope this isn't the last bow we see that doesn't require ammo. We need more D&D cartoon energy bows. :)

Just as long as we never get the Cavalier shield, which doesn't let you equip any main hand weapon.

While that is pretty sweet, I'd love for it to have a chance on hit: Makes hunter big red and scary (+X AP or haste) for Y seconds. I'll still bid on it.

So will we find a club, cloak of invisibility, mage hat, golden griffin shield and staff while there as well?

i think ppl are missing the point.
some posters say "oh imba, its perfect for me, it uses no ammo" ...if that is how u think, u r probably never going to see this drop. its an end game item, and a reward for getting that far into the raid-content.
for this reward to be geared towards casual farming with lower costs is pretty insane. ofc, it is in tune with the 2 set T6 bonus for hunters.
btw, cheeky's gives it 25 dps increase. in other words, 1/4 th the value of a decent trinket, and abt the value of a scroll on u & pet.

I cant believe the crying that goes on here , they add a legendary and nothing but tears , you guys dont even deserve to sit around and play a game all day. You need a reality check.

This really serves as an upgrade to the Wolfkiller gun. It'll still do a 1:1 shot rotation, but with the extra .1 speed, and you will loose a little dps. This with the loss of dps from the ammo bring it back to around what the Wolfkiller does... then we get another 20 slots!!!! and save money on ammo!!! I keep raid stuff in inventory, and have usually 5-6 slots when I go questing... this would be a great boon to raiding hunters everywhere!
WTB Thori'dal!!

The weapon is EXTREMELY slow, which really makes it a weapon that not a lot of people would want, due to the fact that its speed is outrageous. As a hunter I have tried fast bows ( Hurricane) and tryed some slow bows, my bow now is 2.30 if they made a 1.50 bow with low dam but high dps , you would be able to manuevre around in combat easier. This is just my say
