I've never speced CoH (spirit comes in handy too often), but saying it's useless might be a bit narrow-minded; even Kara priests are able to put it to good use.
And as far as raid healing goes, just yesterday we had 2 priest s topping healing meters at Gruul's. While to me that means the other classes were slacking, it also doesn't change the fact, that we are still in fact very viable raid healers. I love my class.
