Too bad the marks are needed for PvP gear, so really you are just wasting time with this. If you think about it, the honor required for most PvP rewards can be gathered in the same amount of time it requires to get the marks. If you give up marks for honor, you will probably have a ton of extra honor after farming new marks to get your rewards. Doesn't make much sense to me at the moment.

This isn't always the case. After you buy gear, you can find yourself honor short and mark heavy (happened to my tauren, he's got 60 AV marks left and is at about 3k honor because I play my tank more now.)
If, like my human, you have around 20 of each BG mark and only 4k honor, you could trade in all your marks to get honor, then go back into the grind. Furthermore, if you're heading for 100 of each kind of mark, now you can straight up convert them.
