From the Forums: Draenei Hunter 2-man instancing
From the European forums comes a pretty awesome leveling concept: Suppressor and Restrainer, two Draenei Hunters from the Hellfire(EU) realm, who since level 18 have leveled exclusively by 2-manning dungeons and turning in only dungeon-related quests. They attempt to run the entire dungeon, not skipping bosses. At the time of the linked post, they had made it to level 38 and were attempting to conquer Razorfen Downs. A Quick check of the Armory shows them in gear from Uldaman, so it sounds like they've shut down the Coldbringer and headed on. I'll be interested if they post an update, especially if they can bring down Archaedas.Suppressor has posted an excellent overview of the strategies and tactics he and his partner have used to get this far. Plus, his advice to stay calm and think wisely when faced with bad pulls or unexpected adds is golden even for those of us who insist on taking all five people to a dungeon. They haven't given themselves quite as much of a handicap as Gweryc or Gutrot, perhaps, but it's still an amazing thing they're doing, and it'll be fun to see if they can make it all the way to 70.

I've solo'd a number of mid-level instances with my hunter before the mobs and quests went grey. Feign Death, pet, pet heals, traps, and mail armor go a long way to making this doable. It takes a while and you need to have a lot of healing potions, bandages, and ammo with you. The trick is having your gear hold up until you get to the end.
I was this >< close to doing the mass pyramid mob rush in ZF but had the NPC die on me against the bosses at the bottom.

They'll need a miracle to be able to duo Archaedas. I know I can't at 70. Mainly because it takes 3 people to activate the two altars to get to him. ;)

Yeah, I spotted that too. Though that a statement by the paid blogger not the players. They don't have any rings on them for example from him.

I'd be curious for a followup on these two later on. I'm guessing they'll hit a wall later on when instances become more difficult. BRD, Strat

I'm not totally surprised.
Me and a friend of mine (Protection Warrior + Arms Warrior) 2-manned Razorfen Downs at around 40 I think by popping potions, killing non-elites first and then Aggro-swapping while taking turns bandaging ourselves. (We'd taunt the elite off each otehr as the other was bandaging and DPSing)
It's very possible with good coordination to 2-man a lot of stuff.

I'm surprised they're not both jewelcrafters. Those healing statues are super-useful at lower levels.

Thumbs up for the guild name alone... well i guess its pretty awesome what they're doing. Can someone confirm whether or not gweryc uses a pet?
Daniel Whitcomb Feb 13th 2008 3:50PM
Hi Frostwolf,
Actually, yes, Gweryc does use a pet, a wolf I believe. You can check an interview WoW Insider did with him recently, and he talks a bit about how he uses the wolf in PvE and PvP in one part.

Soloing instances are fun, heck instances are fun as long as ppl actually want to do the instance, and are not 12 years old. Anyway my thought (for whatever that is worth), is have a different spec for the two hunters, one a strong pet spec (BM/MM 41/20), and one that is more DPS driven or trap focused. You could really have alot of fun with this idea. I would say as OT get a boar for increased dps. Anyway they seem to know what they are doing. I imagine most instances are doable but it will get much more challenging soon, with the 6ish mob pulls of ST, and the pyramid encounter of ZF.

OT Boars are horrible if you plan on using traps as CC. Boars have an alarming tendency to break traps for some reason.

what about the bosses that require you to have 3 people to summon the start of the fights?
K Whitt Feb 13th 2008 6:02PM
They can't even get in to activate Archaedas. That requires a minimum of 3 people to activate. I found this out the hard way when power-running a friend through there repeatedly to try and get XP and specific drop.

Heh, seems like everyone is commenting on how you need three people for the big boss of Uldaman, including me:)
I was wondering if it was changed since the last time I ran it, but apparently not:)

I see nothing special to it.
As level 30 (With no special gear other than a few greens) I soloed Deadmines, Blackfathom Deeps and Stockades. As Level 32 I already soloed Gnomeregan (Took me two sessions of an hour and a half). Right now I'm at level 34 and waiting to solo the next instance (I missed Razorfen Kraul, so although is kinda low, I will go there).
Draenei Hunters are awesome for soloing, I'm sorry to say that I see nothing special on the fact that TWO of them are capable of soloing instances since I can solo most of them.

I think that some people miss the fact that soloing instances is their only way of leveling since lvl 18. Soloing DM at lvl 30 isn't hard for anyone but doing it while you can get enough xp to level trhough quests and mobs is a bit more fo a challange...but deadmines aren't really the impressive part either.
But then again, why read the post before commenting.
Piccara Feb 15th 2008 4:33AM
Then again, read MY post before commenting it.
Soloing Gnomeregan at level 32 isn't an easy task. But I'm sure that two level 18 hunters can solo DM easily, it just requieres time and patience (Which I'm sure they have).
I'm looking forward to solo scarlet monastery and Razorfen Downs (after I finished RFK) since it is my only way to level up the hunter alt (I Hate rushes).
Shame I will need some help with uldaman, but I will definately try to solo ZF and the pyramid event (Do not know how yet, but that's part of the fun).
As I said, I'm sorry to say that I see nothing special to it.

Someone PLEASEE tell me if it HAS to be Draenei???
Because, me and my brother wanted to do this as a BE/Be or a Orc/Troll combo? Would that be possible too??
Daniel Whitcomb Feb 18th 2008 3:28PM
Hey Soccer12,
I'd say that being a Draenei will probably help a whole lot because you'll have that extra heal from Gift of the Naaru to get you out of tight spots. You might try with other combinations, but it's definitely going to be tougher.
