PvP for PvE on the PTR
The changes just keep on coming, and at the oddest times too. The following was just unlocked on the patch 2.4 PTR: Arena gear is now obtainable in exchange for PvE tokens. According to World of Raids, Tier 4 tokens will get you season 1 gear, T5/6 will get you season 2, and the new Sunwell T6 tokens will get you Vindicator gear. You can also, apparently, exchange Badges of Justice for "all PvP gear," as pictured. What does this change signify? Yet again, Blizz is trying to open up progression. Whether this is in advance of Wrath, when this all will be relatively meaningless, or simply in response to continuing pressure for advancement from players, this is probably a change that will be lauded by those who don't already have what it gives. If you've got this arena gear already, it might seem unfair that people can get it through alternate paths, and maybe it is. But I like that Blizz keeps trying to make it easier to be versatile in the game, to not just have to devote yourself to either PvE or PvP. Players being able to take advantage of all the game has to offer is key to its continued success.

I wasn't being personal, I even went so far to ignore your "are you dense" comment. I don't care if you've played a warrior for 3 years or 3 days, someone who says "resilience only compensates to a certain extent" is obviously ignorant of the intricacies of tanking and, obviously, needs to read up on how good tanking is accomplished. Resilience does not "compensate" for anything. It's USELESS unless you're trying to become uncrittable while using pvp gear, in which case you're still missing out on +dodge and +parry bonuses of +def.
If you like pvp so much and if pve players are "clickers", then why do you want to participate in it so much? I'm just so confused...
Our difference is, I guess, that when I take the S1 shield and shoulders in an instance or to a raid I feel ashamed in a weird way, as if I were cheating, while you'd feel happy if that cheating (imho) would get you all the way to bt. I hate pvp and consider the time I spent in bg's to get my 2 pieces of s1 gear as time wasted, whereas you think there is some kind of "skill" involved. I'll just disagree with you and wish you good luck in your future endeavours, my dear friend.

Great Change!
You could PvP for gear to PvE (depending on the class), but you couldn't PvE to gear for PvP.
Oohh! What if they opened up the tiers depending on your personal rating!? 1500+ t4, 1750+ t5, 2k+ t6 for example. That would be awsome!
I think blizz is definatley doing the right thing here. Allowing more gear to more players is always good.

Let's clear something up here. I'm not saying i should sit in AV for 2 hours and get tier5, no. I'm talking about true PvP, those of us who actually play - maybe make them available through the arena system instead of the honour system but i don't see how you can defend PvE-ers getting welfare PvP epics while PvP-ers are ignored. Show me how that is fair and balanced. I have yet to see a single person argue this logically.

expecting T4 for honorpoints, T5 for arenapoints in that case.

I have a feeling Blizzard will not sell PvE tanking gear for honor. Or even a PvE healing set.
Because it will increase the looking for tank/healer problem.
Tanks (who actually want to tank) will realize it's way easier to just fool around in BG's to get tanking gear, instead of running instances over and over, praying for good drops. Not to mention dealing with your PUG's and repair costs.

I like this idea. In my guild, we've run things like Kara and Gruul so many times that there are only a few raiders who do not already have all of their tier 4 pieces or fare better. We have hit the point where we are having people roll on them for fun. Some people never got their tier and jumped right over it gear wise and might just want the piece at this point simply to have it. Having a new thing for people to buy with our wasted tokens would be nice. Certainly worth more than the 5g you can get selling a token, or the shiny new epic you'll promptly seal away in your bank never to see the light of day until you feel nostalgic.

if you want gear for pve, just you know, pve.
im sure your full s3 gear can handle kara.
where as t6 cant compare to someone with full resilience.
but s2/3 are already too easy to get as it is just by losing every week.
bg honor farming is the real time-sink.
Incredibull Mar 11th 2008 9:25AM
Its very simple, read all the posts here and you will notice that all PvEers like this idea and all the PvEers dislike it. Blizzard just went and pissed off every PvPer to make all the little 12 year old raiders happy cause they get spanked in arenas and think its a gear problem.
Its completely unfair unless they do it both ways. If you suck at pvp, you do not deserver the pvp gear, and if you suck at pve you do not deserver the pve gear. Its not so bad if they were to make both gear sets available by both methods of farming. I earned my season3 gear in the arenas and now they are tossing it out to people that have extra raid tokens sittin in their bags? well then toss me some T6 gear for the extra 5k arena points and 50k honor I have banked up. They don't want newb PvEers showing up in T6 gear to raids when they don't know how to 5 man yet. Well we don't want newb PvPers showing up on our 2000+ team with S3 gear when they don't know how to use /Focus or LoS kiting.
The only good thing about this is the fact that the PvEers have no more excuses when they get stomped in PvP.
Conclusion = Phockin weak idea, period.

See it this way: When they get arena gear and go into the arena cause they think they can just play as good as they can in PvE, you can pwn them. And then they have no excuse to cry anymore because they were using arena gear as well. The just had no skills.

Whats with the "pure" PvP Players, often found on a PvP Server? As my rogue for example..
We fight us through -still unbalanced" Arenas to get a Reward in exchange for our achievements there.
Same does Raiding give the PvE Players.
If u give now Arena/PvP gear to them, wheres the point in arena? For "slightly" better weaopns/gear?
This gives for BGs a worse situation in my opinion.
Already now, everyone can farm S1...Dont take me wrong, but often PvP pros have an advantage in skill on 1vs.1..
If you give now also the PVE realmers (no offense;) big pvp gear, BGs will become again "everyone can beat everyone"
Evey mage/hunter/whatever can kill me then almost instant in his first BG or totaly skillfree..
Amazing..then why gear at all? Remove all gear and let us run around naked blizz..
When Resi becomes a standard, as many other things before, Delete arena and Battlegrounds and make WoW just going up into end game dungeons.
I mean really..
I am not so far with my main in PvE for my playtime alltogether (Started Hyal 3 weeks ago), but my bg rogue -since 4 weeks 70, has 42k lifetime, full s1/vindi and already 2100 Arena Points..
I do say indeed, PvE should not get PvP gear even close to S2/s3..
Or also give the Arena/BG guys for Honor gear with decent hit rating and not loosing massive hp/crit/ap for it as its now..S1/Vindi is 300+ Resi an u come to about 50hit..lol
Hardly hitting as melee something in Kara with that..
