Patch 2.4 laced with Elixir of Giant Growth
The latest build of patch 2.4 on the PTR bucks the trend of the ever-shrinking orc and draenei shoulder pads by treating us to monstrously large weaponry. Truly, this is a sign that Blizzard loves us and wants us to be happy. There is not a thing in this world that comes to mind when I try to think of something that makes me squeal in delight as much as a gigantic sword swirling through the air, or my enemies slamming into my massive shield and bouncing off uselessly. In all seriousness, this is probably a bug and some of it actually looks pretty ridiculous. When I first noticed it, I almost wondered if my paladin had actually shrunk because I had long ago adjusted to her Crest of the Sha'tar being amusingly small. It would be nice to have a shield that wasn't tiny like a bean, but an increase in size on everything in the game just doesn't seem intentional.
To give you a better idea of how much of an increase I mean, I've included a side by side comparison after the jump. I apologize for the difference in quality between the shots, I've forgotten how to change the format WoW screens are saved in. Hooray!
PTR is on the Left, Live servers are on the Right.

No, this is not the gear I normally wear. It is, however, the prettiest gear I have to wear. ...What? Stop looking at me like that!

I was always amused by the small size of some of the shields. How are you suppose to protect yourself with such a tiny thing?
Daveti Feb 16th 2008 5:23PM
Clearly you've never seen a skilled swordsman fight with a rapier and buckler.
Heilig Feb 16th 2008 5:29PM
Um, skilled swordsmen with rapiers and bucklers fight other skilled swordsmen with rapiers and bucklers, NOT 60 foot tall demons with 2 ton swords. Also not 12 people at a time. Or any of a dozen other examples. They also don't wear full plate mail.
Anyway, I hope this is not a bug, most of the shields in the game are ludicrously small as they are now.

Actually, I have. It was a joke.

and while we're on the subject: How is the succubus that warlocks summon from another plane of existence actually able to do damage to armoured targets with a mere whip? It's just not realistic! IRL I would never summon a demon with just a whip...
Charlie Taylor Feb 16th 2008 6:30PM
ummmm, plasma whip maybe? Wait, wrong genre. I guess it's imbued with fel energies?
innajunglestylee Feb 16th 2008 7:45PM
I'll show YOU a whip infused with fel energies!

I'm a little disturbed that greatlich summons demons IRL.....
Psychosis Feb 17th 2008 12:24PM
because he is a lich or because he's talking IRL? ^^
Deathdealer Feb 16th 2008 9:56PM
What? so summoning demons IRL are not a normal everday activity that everyone does. who doesnt like a demon doing there biding. they can even slay someone you hate and you cant be blamed for it! Muhahahahahahaha!

While I find the size of the Bulwark of Azzinoth absolutely okay, the oversized 1-h sword on your char makes it look like a bug, definitely.
