Around Azeroth: The Karazhan gryphon roost
Player Natala of The Shining Dawn guild on Quel'Thalas was on a Karazhan run when he spied this far away gryphon roost. He used his Far Sight ability to get us a closer look at it. As far as we know, it is unused and remains a mystery other than one lore reference Natala cites: it was used frequently by Medivh and Khadgar in the novel "The Last Guardian". Does anyone else know if this obscure flightpath serves any purpose?
Do you have any unusual World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? Because we'd love to see it on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@wow.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!
Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. We prefer full screen shots without the UI showing. And please, no more sunsets. No, really. Ok, only if it's a sunrise in new Patch 2.4 lands. We'll take those anytime. Oh, and no more shots of Omen killed in Ogrimmar. It's cool, we get it. A lot of it.

Once upon a time there were supposed to be flight paths in Karazhan to take you to different parts of the dungeon (after you killed certain bosses). Somewhere along the way Blizzard dropped that idea and just gave players a teleport to Aran's room after you killed him.

Wasn't there a rumor before BC hit that there would be a flightpoint within Karazhan?

That's right, they were planning to make the upper levels accessible via flightpoint once you'd reached a certain point in the dungeon.
Then they decided it was pretty pointless and impractical.
Still, would have been cool though. It's nice to see the skeletal griffon flying around at the top of the instance though.

BTW, awesome screen shot. I have never seen that in Kara (and I've done a ton of Kara). I just noticed the green raid portal to the left of the gryphons in the SS.

I wonder if this was going to be linked at that (permanently) locked door up the curved stairs above Midnight/Attumen?

I wonder where you'd appear in Kara if you somehow made your way up there and into the raid portal.

You can access this balcony within the karazhan instance between chess and prince.

What everyone else said. They were planning to do a flightpath to upper Karazhan and decided to do the Aran teleport spot instead (and meeting stones).
Nice picture.
