keep in mind: epics serve a purpose. in PvE they gear up the raid so you are able to down the next boss. In PvP it's to stay competitive with the other guy - and have upgrades so the damage output from raid gear doesn't let a raider slaughter his way through a BG the way it was pre expansion.
