Kalgan speaks! Shamans getting buffed (hopefully) in 2.4
Kalgan made a long-awaited The original thread was mysteriously deleted, but Kalgan responds to a thread confirming his statement. In particular, he says, Blizzard is looking at the severely gimped, non-mobile totem dropping mechanic as well as improving some under-used totems (Windwall Totem, anyone?). In an uncommon display of candor, Kalgan also expresses the direction they will be taking with the forthcoming changes, noting that Shamans are "pretty well gimped" in 2v2 Arenas. Enhancement Shamans should also expect an incoming buff as Blizzard is expecting to get at least one spec viable in 2v2 -- and it's, gasp, Enhancement!
Asked if these changes will actually make it into Patch 2.4 or if these will be another tease+heartbreak by Blizzard to the Shaman community, Kalgan unequivocally replies, "Ah no, don't get me wrong. There will be buffs in 2.4, it's just a question of which buffs." So apparently, there is light at the end of the tunnel. I know it's easy to be skeptical about this considering how Shamans have repeatedly been shafted, but Blizzard's surprising openness -- heck, the mere presence of a blue! (and not in a thread-deleting kind of way) -- in the forums is a refreshing change of pace.

They said this about Priests too, and we got CoH doing 25 more healing.
The upside to this is that as a developer, Kalgan is someone actually in a position to *do* it (unlike the CMs). The downside is that he didn't give real specifics. While an improved Windwall would be nice, I don't think its what people are looking for in terms of buffs.

I played a shaman and I was an enhancement shaman by heart. I cancelled my account a few days ago because I gave up on Blizz ever giving the spec some PVP and Heroic PVE viability. Now I'm really interested in the PTR patchnotes again...

Its not like Kalgan never lied to us Paladins that we will be fixed.
BladeeR Feb 21st 2008 9:12AM
Fuck Kalgan and what that moron did to warlocks.
Good_Idea Feb 21st 2008 12:24PM
Yeah, warlocks are really "hurting" in arena and battlegrounds. Whatever!
I don't feel sorry for locks at all and your multi-tasking, multi-buff and debuff eating, spell locking, spell-immune pets.

Yeah, sorry that we are still playable...

Makes you wonder what happened to all the "fuck you blizzard go play a shaman yourselves to see how we have it" people, but I guess they're just that easy.

Actually, this is one thing that shaman have been asking for for a long time now. Kalgan has been considered "the class dev" and he's never posted in our forums. So when shamans ask for buffs and such, they generally ask for Kalgan to finally show up in our forums, and talk to us about the state of our class.
He finally has, so a lot of shamans are now waiting and watching.

It's no mystery that it'll be Enhancement that gets the 2v2 buff, it'll go hand in hand with Kalgans admitted endgame PvP warrior - and once again Blizzard lets Kalganism influence it's pvp balancing.

"Long awaited return"? How can you return to a forum you've never been/posted in in the first place? Gets your facts straight WoWI, this is Kalgan's VERY FIRST time in the Shaman forums, ever.
Sloegin Feb 21st 2008 12:24PM
Kalgan finally posting for the first time in the Shaman forums as a bit of PR to quell the latest firestorm; notes what's obvious to everyone else who plays the game.
He promises... things. And stuff.
The only thing he really *does* promise is no straight-up buffs. It'll be the same back-handed changes Shaman have been getting since the first WF nerfs; something goes up, something equal or greater goes down.
Don't count yer shocks till they've landed.
censorman Feb 21st 2008 2:47PM
There was a cowardly cunt talking smack about how shaman are fine. His name was marky mark (and I'm still waiting for an email, chumpy.
If this happens, I'll return. But we've been promised shit before. Not holding my breath.
Enjoying Call of Duty 4 too much.
