PTR Notes: Undocumented changes
Today a big new build went up on the patch 2.4 PTR, and every change that was in the patch notes was detailed here. However, inevitably, there were some changes that didn't make it to the patch notes, and for that we have the intrepid researchers at MMO-Champion and World of Raids. Here's what they've managed to tease out of the realms:- Most of the Tier 6 belts, boots, and bracers found in the Sunwell raid have had their Stamina removed, and other stats increased to compensate. The exception is the Warrior tanking set, Onslaught Armor. Edit: And the Paladin tanking set, Lightbringer Armor.
- The five epic BoP jewelcrafted trinkets we learned about previously have had patterns added; they're available at the Revered level from the Shattered Sun Offensive quartermaster.
- In what must be a bug of some sort, rank 1 of the Warlock talent Emberstorm now increases the casting speed of Incinerate by 2%, as well as its previous effect of boosting all fire damage by 2%. Other ranks of the talent are unchanged.

The JC trinkets are from revered rep? Awesome, my JC'ing priest will be in the market for raw Seaspray Emeralds then, that is one very nice trinket for a healer - perfect upgrade for my Talasite Owl :-)

That incinerate change might be an accidentally leaked change to attempt to make end-game firelocks valid. 10% haste on incinerate would be really nice...

How do you get your talent window to look like that?
The glossy hover box is really nice.
Jack Feb 21st 2008 2:01AM
The addon Skinner does that.

still waiting for new engineering trinkets which update some of the pre BC trinkets

Also the Paladin tanking set did not see any stamina reductions either.
Way to go Wowinsider, once again ignoring the Tankadins

What about bears?
Eliah Hecht Feb 20th 2008 10:33PM
Ah, correct of course. Sorry, I was scanning the sets quickly. I even looked for Stam on the Tankadin set, but must have missed it somehow. It is, in fact, removed from the feral Druid set though.
Keebster Feb 20th 2008 10:45PM
well that suxs that its gone from the druid set
Justus Feb 20th 2008 10:54PM
this change makes the feral druid items worthless as most ferals tank.
Zeplar Feb 20th 2008 11:47PM
Why the hell did they remove stamina from the druid tanking set? That's like taking all the +healing off of a healing set o_O
Hoggersbud Feb 21st 2008 1:13AM
I'm assuming there's confusion as to whether Druid feral T6 is tanking or DPS. Or perhaps some balance issue with the stats.
Brasson Feb 21st 2008 1:42AM
They dropped the stamina, but left the intellect?
Double-you tee eff?

I like that the JC trinkets are available to all JCs, not just the ones that run the Sunwell 25-man raid instance.
The BT gems can currently be bought and with BT/Hygal attunement being dropped, there will be more gems than ever on the market. So this should be easy for JCs.

That's great...except for the fact that the trinkets still kind of suck. Yeah, the healing one is ok - but I'm a tank, and the tanking trinket is "meh" at best. Even the others don't seem all that great to me, really...especially when you consider that they take drops out of BT/Sunwell. Yeah, those drops might be more prevalent now that anyone can get into BT, but I bet they'll still go for way too much gold early on.
I just don't see myself making any of these, unless I happen to have the mats on hand already - and even then I still might not. I didn't like the blue versions of these (except for the tanking one, which I use only in my resist sets), so I don't see these versions getting much use, either.

Or, I stand corrected. I currently use Scarab of Displacement (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=30629) in my boss tanking set, and it looks like the tanking figurine (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=35693) gives more avoidance on use (8.35% dodge, parry, and miss on the Scarab (ignoring Block because it's not really avoidance) vs 8.72% dodge on the figurine). Both give 42 defense rating, so that part is no different.
So I guess I will be making that one as soon as I can get the design and gather the mats for it. Finally, a useful reason to be a tank JC other than 1 +18 stamina gem!

2.45 second Incinerates vs. 2.50 second Incinerates. It would take 50 Incinerates to fit an extra one in! That's just not very significant at all. A 10% cast speed increase at 5/5 Emberstorm, however, totally is.
And for the love of all that is hawt, tweak the Fire Stone already!

The recently buffed feral combat talent Nurturing Instincts is bugged.
Eternalpayn Feb 21st 2008 7:54AM
If I am remembering correctly, they are working on Agility becoming a good tanking stat for bears, correct? Or was that for Resto druids? Because that would make sense, taking the stam off the feral set if it did, but I don't know...
Eliah Hecht Feb 21st 2008 8:16AM
I think Jagoex was speculating on the theory that this change to Rank 1 is a harbinger of changes to come for Ranks 2 through 5.
