There's no difference. The training points and other statistics of a pet are determined by their level, not by the time they've spent at your side or how many levels they've gained while being with you.So for example, you could level up a cat from 12 to 30 by your side, then tame another cat at 30 and see that your new cat has the exact same stats and maximum training points (they depend on your pet's happiness as well) as your old cat had.
