Breakfast Topic: Meeting WoW folks

We had been running lowbies on a new server. We had a Warrior, a Rogue, a Warlock and a Shaman that we were leveling together. All but the Warlock player live in
We set up a four player LANin the spare bedroom, along with a fridge full of beverages and an air mattress should we ever decide to sleep. We got a few levels, four-manned some instances, pwned some n00bs*, and laughed a lot. I wasn't sure what to expect. He was a good guy in game, and I had my trusted companions along with me if anything went awry. It's definitely an experience I wouldn't mind repeating.
Have you ever met any of your WoW buddies outside of game?
* As we were running into Uldaman, a full group of the opposite faction tried to gank us. Even they out-manned and out-leveled us, we still took them down. It was beautiful.

I do it all the time. My boyfriend and more than a half dozen other people in our guild are local to my area. We get together for lunch about once a month. Some of the other non-local folks have also gotten together during conventions and such.

our guild does a bi-annual meetup in las vegas. though we don't play Wow as much as we engage in massive drunken debauchery.
we wouldn't have it any other way. :)

Our guild has several people in it that are RL friends and relatives; We also found a couple more in the same geographic area, and they have become RL friends also. I believe some of them are playing D&D this afternoon.
See, we are not addicted to WoW...only. Games, maybe.

My GM and 80% of the officers of our 5/6 SSC 2/4 TK guild are all from the same town, along with several relatives/my boyfriend, some of them not even on the same server. Makes for great after-raid late night outings :P

I play in a guild called Pride of St George on Nordrassil EU. When I joined, most of the Guild Officers knew each other in Real Life, and one was the father of another. But apart from them, we were a fairly diverse group of people spread across England, but with a fair few in London. In June 2007 we organised a Guild Meet, which was attended by over 20 guild members, taking places in various bars and pubs across London.
Not only was it one of the most enjoyable days I have ever had, it led to further RL friendships and meetings up outside of the game (most recently for a night of drunken and debauched Wii competitions). As well as having fun, it's good to meet other Officers outside of the game, and I attribute our transition from casual levelling to casual raiding to these times when we are able to get together and discuss WoW while not actually playing.

Nearly all of my guildmates are an ocean and at least half a continent away from me. I can only dream of ever spending offline time with them.

How timely! Last weekend we had a mini-meetup in San Diego to meet and greet Accasia, our lovely huntress from Australia on her first trip to the US. We had California Saints, a Colorado Saint, a Virginia Saint, a former and beloved Saint, and of course a ton of Cali Saints. We didn't play a lick of WoW, but we had a ball. Check out SaintsOfElune.com for links to the photo show.

Dear Amanda,
this is for you.
Just teasing. Anyway, I'd love to hang out with some WoW players, and I'm sure there are quite a few here in CA, but I've yet to meet any, sadly enough.
Sounds like fun though!
