Forum post of the day: Mage confessions
Apparently Warlocks are not the only evil class in World of Warcraft. Today on the official forums, Mages aired their dirty laundry. Gompers of Archimonde began a thread that quickly filled to capacity with some of the tricks, cheats, and jokes Mages employ for amusement and profit. Some of the highlights include*:
- Shlippmack of Earthen Ring, "I pyro the lvl 1 critters to boost damage."
- Tiinsi of Bloodhoof, "On wipes I ice block and let everyone else who's fleeing pull the mobs further away so I have time to invis."
- Amarius of Alleria, "I sheep horde who are fighting warlocks or hunters just to give them a heal and hopefully the help they need to kill said warlock or hunter."
- Reoko of Sargeras, "I confess most of my deaths are caused by me hitting the windows button** when I'm trying to press alt 2 for ice block. /facepalm"
- Haruka of Shadow Council, "I once carried around multiple stacks of Scrolls of Intellect rank 1 that I would use on people in the raid who complained about not getting an int buff."
- Walugiee of Zul'jin, "I sometimes break my own sheeps and blame hunter multi-shots just so the raid leader yells at them."
The thread has some real gems in it. If I ever level my Mage, I may steal some of their ideas. Do you have anything you'd like to share with the group?

** This is why there are holes where the Windows keys were on my keyboard. They were pried off about my second day of playing WoW.

Heh, one of the reasons I love my G15 keyboard, it has a switch at the top I can slide to turn off my windows key while i'm in a game.

Well... it would be nice if you'd actually LINK the thread for all of us to read.
Pretty please, with sugar on top?

Linked now, thanks a lot ;-)

Yeah i put some post somewhere in that, in BGs i often dont put down a table, a) i figure the other mage will and b) these people arent gunna work together with me anyway, i mean perhaps they would and i ruined the chance, but normally when i do they dont, i am not wasting my money to get yelled at.

ya, I usually use the line..
"Oh, I'm sorry.. I think I just used up my last two arcane powder in the last BG... too bad you weren't in that one!"

And that's why when we start AV and no mage has put up a table, i ask nicely in /bg chat not to heal or buff the mages.
Being a drood with a wanted buffs, and a resto one who top the healing charts, i would like to see you in game(:
... Oh, sorry, you probably are just an ally mage, nvm.

Your probably the guy that puts the table summons outside the protective dome in EotS, aren't ya.....

Last night, in Kara, I pretended to summon a refreshment table. Instead, I opened a portal to Darnassus - 3 people took an instant trip to another continent.
A hunter tried to get me back by misdirecting to me on a pull, but I just Ice Blocked and the MT took the mob.

I find it amazing that anyone would fall for these .. the spell effects are clearly different!

Pre BC, when I played my mage, I used to fool around in 5man with multiple pulls. I would double sheep mobs. I thought it was so cool because I had discovered how to do it quite by accident. I wanted to show off my 'leet skillz'. Unfortunately, several PuG groups yelled at me for it. Apparently they missed my DPS and would rather have one mob safely sheeped than two 'sorta' CC'd. :)

If you make your game windowed mode maximized, windows key troubles are a thing of the past! :)
And I actually get better performance than full-screen :S

lol. That is kinda sad to see how players will do these things in game. Some are funny, some are not like.. being leader and removing someone from a group in BG to a group by themselves and they get really no honor unless they score alone. Happned to me once and I must say that the person who did it was probably sorry later lmao..... I don't report people for name calling, cursing, etc... but to screw with my honor is something else.

the last one, blaming broken sheeps because of hunters multishot.. is the dead truth...
I got whispercast, and ppl abused it and got auto ignored.. not my problem
my portals cost 5g. got no gold ? GTFO

Ha-ha, I did that once, ported three hunters to exodar and when they got back, the group tried to let me steal threat off of prince so I'd die before he summoned the infernals, so I did and before he hit me, iceblocked and he killed two of the hunters doing the next most dps as me.

Pranked an enhance shaman last week. A non-snaring ice lance looks a lot like a stunning frost shock on a ZA scout.... The dual explosions on vent, first from GL to shaman when scout hit the gong, then shaman to me after checking combat log, was well worth the repair cost. (We'd already missed the boss timer.)
Blind trades for water get lots of stacks of water one rank over the level they can use. Doesn't come up too often with most at seventy now, but used to be a guild betting game. Everyone put in gold for the next time it'd happen and I'd set a clock counting down to the angry tell. Pot went to the closest to call it.

I have never asked for port and never will/..
I owe you nothing

"I once carried around multiple stacks of Scrolls of Intellect rank 1 that I would use on people in the raid who complained about not getting an int buff."
Well then, he's just an idiot then. Buff your raid, re-buff when people die, it's your spell, do your job and you won't get asked.

Walugiee of Zul'jin, Go diaf.

frost dps is pretty simple... sometimes during raids i'll press 3 (frostbolt) tab out, type a message in AIM, and tab back in in time to press 3 again.
so far it hasn't caused any wipes...

I confess! The first victims of my new learned offensive spells were the squirrels of Stormwind's Park >.< I'm a monster XD
