Blizzard's bugs continue to confound. This was
the sight on the PTR this weekend (
Mania saw it too) -- miniature ogres and Taurens and
oversized pets (including warlock and hunter pets and even some noncombat pets). We have no idea at all why Blizzard would be tweaking sizes (although this
isn't the first time, and nor will it probably be the last that this happens), but whatever they're messing around with is weirding out the size factors all over the places.
The good news is that this is exactly what the "Public Test Realm" is for, and these problems are more amusing than anything else. But the bad news is that this definitely means that Blizzard is still monkeying with the code pretty hardcore. If
your guess for the
patch 2.4 release is in the first week or so of March, you might be a little early.

It may be a distraction tactic or an intentional change meant to get a laugh.

Actually, the mucking around with the pet sizes might have something to do with the WoW TCG. A new loot card in the next expansion is a biscuit that will increase the size of a non-combat pet.

it was enjoyable to see Durn wandering in Nagrand and being a tiny little bugger. Still kicked some serious arse though... ^_^
Another interesting bug we were seeing in Outlands was the lack of water except for random squares... or holes in lakes that you could fly down into without getting dismounted.
Made the daily fishing quest a challenge trying to cast into a river of one square of water and nothing else around it.

In actuallity, it's a much more simple problem than people are being lead to believe. I was on a private server a while ago and from what I saw there it seems quite likely that on the PTR the character scaling was simply set to 1:1. That's it. Normally Ogres, Tauren, etc. are at or over 1.5:1 scale and mini pets are scaled dow at or less that 0.5:1 scale. Therefore, when the scale of all NPCs (characters, creatures, pets, etc.) is brought to a uniform 1:1, sizes are all outta-whack.
