How many 70s does Eyonix have?
Surprisingly, US CM Eyonix has dropped in on a thread titled "How many 70s do you have?" I'm surprised because I wouldn't think it would necessarily be in a CM's best interest for people to know what classes they play, as a common perception in the community is that if you don't have a level 70 <insert class here> you obviously know nothing about the class and should stop talking. Anyway, here's the four classes that the whelpling has gotten to the level cap (in the order he put them in):- Shaman
- Priest
- Druid
- Paladin
Notice anything in common? Yes, that's all the healing classes. Of course, each of those classes has roles besides healing, so it's possible that he doesn't actually enjoy bumping the green bars back up, but I doubt it (though his Pally is apparently Prot). You heard it hear first: Eyonix likes to heal and probably reads our Raid Rx column. Or if not, he should. Bornakk, by the way, has three 70s of unknown class.
Later, on more or less a dare from the forum denizens, Eyonix said that he's brought his prot Pally up to Vashj and Kael'Thas, that he's using the Continuum Blade, and that these are his stats (unbuffed):
- Defense: 501
- Dodge: 17.96
- Parry: 16
- Block: 27.41
- HP: "14,500 and some change"
- Spell damage: 390
Edit: It is important to note that, as insomnifox puts it below, "He's a CM not a Developer." CMs just facilitate communication; they don't actually make changes to the game. That's the developers' job.

He's a CM not a Developer.
Chris Feb 26th 2008 11:20AM
Ha, no wonder he hates rogues!
Zhalseran Feb 26th 2008 11:29AM
He's doing Vash and Kael with those stats? I find that kinda hard to believe =/
Raegn Feb 26th 2008 11:44AM
/end epeen stroking.
1) How do you know and 2) like you're so much better?
And before you reply with how leet your stats and gear are, take a second and realize that no one cares.
Zhalseran Feb 26th 2008 11:56AM
I'm not sure how you got e-peen stroking out of my post. Simply put, yes my stats are better and no I don't expect anyone to care, but thats irrelevant. Go troll somewhere else please.

He just said he brought them there, not that he actually tanked Vashj or Kael proper. I'm not totally sure what kind of gear level those stats indicate for a protadin, but my prot warrior roommate was perfectly capable of tanking Telonicus and Sanguinar without pretty much any gear past T4 content.
Thing Feb 26th 2008 1:09PM
He never said he tanked vashj or kael. My prot pally has trash tanked in similar stat gear in both zones.
Maybe he just slaps a dress on and heals during the big fights :)

I guess his pro tip about warlocks using Int gear all makes sense now.

Again, hes a CM not a developer. I find it annoying when people seem to think that the CM's are there as a channel for our QQing to the dev's. They're there to moderate the forums, nothing more.
Mats Feb 26th 2008 11:47AM
Did I ever claim he was a developer? I claim he shoots his mouth of on things he does not understand, I'm quite sure he's able to do that as a CM and not a developer. In fact, if he was a developer, he might not have come with such a idiotic statement, but as a CM he did.
Eliah Hecht Feb 26th 2008 11:59AM
"They're there to moderate the forums, nothing more": actually, there are separate forum mods for that. CMs, in fact, are there precisely to act as a channel between us and the devs, for QQ or whatever else. They also tend to do some moderating, of course.

They should seriously just shut the Forums down and set up an e-mail address to receive player input directly, and only set it up to receive external (i.e. outside Blizzard offices) messages for short periods of time during patch development.
That could work, provided they make a prominent announcement on the front page:
"Now accepting input for v2.5! Click here to submit your ideas. Please keep all submissions short and polite."
They'd save a small fortune on unnecessary staff members, I bet, since you never really see CMs or Forum mods except for when they're locking down threads. (Most of us really only know Eyonix has visited the site because WoW Insider jumps all over every comment he makes. I mean that in a good way, coincidentally, not a blog-bashing way.)
I mean, really, what do the majority of registered Forum users do there, aside from constantly whine? There are folks there - from casuals to hardcore full-time players - with legitimate input that never get noticed because their comments are instantly buried under fifty pages of "OMG BLIZZ U NO LISN 2 MEE N MY IDIA 4 TEH KLASES SO I KWITZ."
Then again, half the legitimate ideas never seem to make it into the game, so I have to wonder if the Developers are paying attention to their clientele in the first place.

This is from his post from when he started his Pally, so it looks like he doesn't ONLY heal since he says his shammy and druid are spec'd caster DPS:
I was leveling as retribution until level 40 and having a great deal of fun. One thing that is important to note here is that my goal with this character at 70 is to be protection and operate as a tank. Not only have I always wanted a paladin, tanking is the final frontier for me. My main for two years was a healing priest; my druid and shaman (though both have been specced healing) are caster dps. My shaman for quite some time was also enhancement, i.e. melee dps.

wow 7 lvl 70s....sounds like someone needs a life
Bratack Feb 26th 2008 12:04PM
Where do you come up with 7?
mattarin Feb 26th 2008 12:09PM
oops nvm i added eynoix and bornakk characters together for some reason but still 4 lvl 70's im sorry thats sad. get a life and do something productive.
Arturis Feb 26th 2008 12:39PM
"get a life and do something productive."
Like posting snide comments on WoW Insider? Way to show them by example, Mattarin.
You do realize that playing WoW is part of his job, right? I mean, for him its a daily-commute-morning-coffee-read-forums-play-wow kinda thing. For a couple of years now. I'm sure Id have an array of 70's by now as well, if I had his job.
kw Feb 26th 2008 12:42PM
I am married, have a good job, and my husband and I both play WoW. We go out regularly with friends and by ourselves and are in the middle of redecorating our house.
I have four 70s and he has 3.
How is WoW any different than sitting home watching TV, which is what the vast majority of Americans do at night?
I'm sorry, making a blanket statement saying that having multiple 70s implies no life is just stupid. You don't know anything about Eyonix's personal life, so in short.. shove it and get off your self-righteous high horse.

as soon as i read this, all i could think was /throwtowolves eyonix
if i was him, i would never in a million years share this information.
i'm not saying be nice... but there's no reason to be unnecessarily mean.
