Breakfast Topic: What's your favorite quest?

WoW quests seem to be pretty formulaic. "Bring me some number of this item or kill that number of mobs." I guess there only so many types of quests that the developers can make. In order to ensure that you get enough experience from some quests, they assign a ridiculously low drop rate. Sometimes I think there are sensors in the keyboard that measure one's level of the frustration by how hard you hit the keys. Once you reach a certain threshold, the item drops. I'm probably wrong about that.
There are some really fun quests in the game. My favorite is Ally of the Netherwing. You don't really have to do anything for the quest, since you've already killed Zuluhead the Whacked. You just take a ride on a Netherdrake and get an awesome reward, a stack of gold, and oodles of reputation. Ok, so I really just like the dragon ride.
I also like Mission: Gateways Murketh and Shaadraz and Mission: The Abyssal Shelf. There's something awesome about flying about doing massive amounts of damage. Although it's still a taxi service, at least you get to do something from the air. Although it's still a kill-count quest, it seems different from the others.

I really enjoy the Ogr'ila bombing run daily quest. It's such a nice change of pace from the regular grind and reasonably challenging on a regular flying mount.

Maybe this is a buzzkill if you like the bombing quest in Ogri-la, but there is an easier way to do it and take less damage to your gear. You get up close to the stacks of cannonballs on foot, clearing the mobs if you have to, and then you mount up on your flyer on the ground, quickly bomb the stack and then dismount. You take one hit from the cannons and it usually flings you back a bit, but you don't take a ton of damage being shot out of the sky.

I did it daily on a regular mount and rarely got hit; once a day if that. You mount up, put the bomb on a hotkey, click, then strafe right or left - you can move while the bomb is being thrown. You shouldn't really get hit at all. You're going to move faster mounted than dismounted, so you definitely shouldn't dismount.

The secret is that the cannons lead you at normal mount speed. SO if you are constantly changing your trajectory and speed they will not be able to track you. Strafe left, tilt forward towards the ground, drop bomb, space bar to ascend, strafe right suddenly as you do it and move forward. You can literally run circles around the spots and as long as you are changing your height and direction just a little bit and avoiding the clouds of flak already in the sky, you won't be hit.
On an epic flier the quest is a 5 minute money run. They just can't target you well enough as long as you change your direction even a little as you fly along. The only limiting factor to how fast you can get it done at that point is the bomb cooldown.

The final parts of Dreadsteed are soo much fun. I still love going back with other warlocks to just to get to do it again. Its way too easy at lvl 70, but still SO much fun.

MY favorite is Turning Point by far. You use the item and he takes 300% damage. Super Crazy Crit Damage

For a long time my favourite quest was in Zul'Furrak, rescuing whoever and his band from the executioner, fighting non-stop down the massive steps of the temple, against a barrage of trolls, and then slaughtering the very people you'd just defended.
There was an epic feel to the battle, and although ones later in the game surpass it, it was my first real taste of controlled mayhem in a group and I'll always remember the first time I did it.

Great blast from the past. Loved that quest.
I really enjoyed the whole quest chain featuring Tirion Fordring that ended with "In Dreams". Great drama, fun and varied quests along the way. Good times.

I remember walking through the desert 20 minutes with that bloody turtle behind me only to get killed by a 70 Hunter outside Steamwheedle Port

The Ring of Blood (Nagrand) is fast, has nice rewards and is really entertaining.
The Ogrila attunement is also interesting with a nice plot and quite fine reward. Take a llittle time to travel around but the money it gives is very well worth it.
And of course the Caverns of Time/Old Hillsbrad quest where Thrall has to be freed is great too, just for the story behind it.
There are many more but those were the ones that came to my mind first.

Quest that are short, can be followed easily, break the mold of the old quests, and make you feel like you've accomplished something.
Theres alot of these in BC for example the cenarion circle quests at death's door in blade's edge. you summon the quest givers with flares and the come to you in hostile territory you use demon cannons against their forges and than solo an elite boss with 2 ancients helping you.
That quest comes to mind but theres more like these. The dailies are pretty good if i havent done them so many times they'd be even better but thats a given.

ohh or maybe the quest given by the tauren in the cave in 1k needles. It involves test of faith which has you listen to the tauren's instructions by jumping to your sure to be demise off a needle only to be teleported and the last second. than test of str. whihc is a straight forward kill quests. and than test of lore where you have to collect rare books (one in SM lib) and than read them to answer the correct question from the quest giver, the wrong answer gets you teleported to the middle of nowhere and about a 20 min return to the quest giver. It forces players to relax a little and enjoy the lore instead of the old grind.

I totally agree with you strife thats why im so happy with the new COT in WOTLK you. Itstratholme from WC3 The Culling of Stratholme where you work along side with Arthas (paladin) in killing off the infected villagers.

For some reason, I really love the AV quests. It's really the only full-immersion BG there is in the game and it's a raid instance, a battleground, and a massive free-for-all. And, most of all, it's epic. PvE mechanics+PvP bloodbath=win.

I play 2 classes as my mains - Hunter and Warrior.
My favorite Warrior Quest was for the Quel Sar Sword. The one where you have to stab Onyxia with it after she breathes fire on it. I think it should have been an Epic Sword, considering how hard it is to stay alive and have her breath fire on the right spot at the right time.
My favorite Hunter quest, likewise, was for the Rhok Bow quest. Again, you need to get the Sinew from Onyxia. You also needed to SOLO kill a couple Elite Demons around the world. Very challenging stuff.
It's sad that BOTH those swrods were immediately replaced with level 63 or 64 GREENs in the Burning Crusade. I wish those rare Epics scaled to your level. I miss being able to use them. Now they're just collecting dust in my bank.

Hmm, I'm not really sure what my favorite quest would be. I do like the bombing runs because they are different. I think the one where you get to use Rexxar's ferret is pretty sweet too.
Either way, I wish I had the keyboard with the sensors!!! It would save me some keyboards! Hahaha!
