PTRs going down for another new push
The public test realms have really been going offline a lot over the past week or so. Though it seems like they just came back up, and we don't even know what the current changes are, aside from a Shaman de-nerf, they're going down again, as of a few minutes ago (noon PST). Hortus merely says the downtime is "to apply a new build," and the patch notes still haven't been updated, so I can't tell you what's coming, although tipster Khanmora's guess that we may see the promised Life Tap modifications is one that I share. The downtime is expected to be between four and six hours.Filed under: Realm News, Patches

This is just a guess, but maybe it's to stop the so-called "stat-stacking?" It's kind of hard test out 2.4 when other players are hitting you for several hundreds of thousands of damage. (On the PvP server, at least.)

So probably. There are several things they have mentioned will be addressed in later pushes, including the promised shaman buffs.

Man, I hope it's that life tap change. I'm sure people would figure out a way to adapt if it happened, and I agree that something needs to change in PvP, but it seems like a really badly thought out to try to deal with it. I'm more in favor of a static amount of health to mana that's not 1 to 1, so that getting enough stamina gear is encouraged, but Life Tap still burns more health than it gives mana.

Of the last bunch of posts, I guess I take exception to this one the most. This is one paragraph and something like only four sentences. That's not even *trying*. That's a bare showing of effort.
I'm not meaning to spark a huge debate, but this somewhat a concern of mine, as I have poked in on WoW Insider off-and-on for some time. There have been some really great, insightful posts and then there are other times when stuff just goes up for . . . the sake of saying something?
Where's the story to this? Where's the 'insider' aspect to this? The insight? The weight? The meaning? Do editors actively review these posts before they are made public, because if so I would ask that you do look for that. I'm not about to preach and ask for any kind of grand jouranlist integrity or even professionalism. However, am I wrong to ask that there be something there more than the sidebar to my login screen? I don't think so.

I look at this site for WoW news as well as the "Inider" info so I appreciate the quick posts with happening stuff. Stop being a baby.

This post was made because I thought the fact that a new PTR build was coming was newsworthy. What more do you want to know about it?

I love how much people love to whine about wowinsider. If you really dont like the articles, dont read them. People really love bitching waay too much. The only info the poster had, was that there was a new build being put on the PTR. That is news. They cant always have pages of information to post, sometimes its just a quick note to let us know something.

WOW insider = _blog_ not a news site where you have to inspect every article for newsworthiness. Its mostly a collection of writers who happen to play world of warcraft that like to post stuff about WOW.
Nothing more nothing less.
There are other sites out there where you can get the most updated news (mmo-champion , world of raids , the occasional post on LJ) for WOW . Wow insider is not one of them ....its not their focus . If they want to make a post about how say Bannanas are the best energy food then they can as they are a blog not a news site
BTW Wow insider FTW !

That's what I'd be reading the article for, to find out.
I'm not meaning to be insulting, or a baby, by any means. Sorry if it comes across that way. I guess it's just I'm looking for more than that sidebar information, more than just a headline but the article to go with it.
I'm also not suggesting this isn't noteworthy. What about some suggestions on what would be nice to see? I mean, speculation is kind of. . . hollow, but it's something. What about what kind of activity the PTR has seen, what kind of input has come from it, and perhaps some encouragement to get more to the PTR to provide as much feedback on the new stuff as possible?
I appreciate fast news. I check non-WoW news sites routinely daily because I like to have those updates, sure. It's just with it ending in four sentences I'm left wondering why I read it rather than, like, go to the WoW Forums and read on the PTR forum to read they're down for 4 hrs.
