Lifeskool highlighted machinima as part of their Gametrotting series last year. According to Jun Falkenstein, of
Stone Falcon Productions, those interviewed were asked to speak to the audience as if they'd never heard of this emerging medium. While most coverage of gaming and machinima tends to miss the mark, I found this documentary to be humorous and quite informative.
Some of the juicy morsels of this short doc include commentary by Philip Debevoise, of
Machinima.com, and machinima from a variety of different platforms. World of Warcraft is discussed pretty heavily in the documentary, showcasing clips from
Snacky's Journal,
WoW 300, the
South Park WoW episode.

Auto-start movies or audio, especially on the main WoWInsider page, are not a good thing. If MySpace vids can't be controlled, it might be good to use a screen cap of the player for the main story image, then put the actual movie "after the jump." Just $0.02 worth. I'm sure you'd then get complaints about having to click into the story just to see the movie.

I couldn't find the source of the audio either. Luckily, I surf WoWInsider during the day when I'm at work, so my boss happened to come by my office and he helped me turn it off...
