How to get on the TTR

Once you've finished downloading the PTR client, you should find it nestled within a folder called WoWTest inside your World of Warcraft folder. It's pretty much the same as the normal World of Warcraft application but with a bunch of extra files that include the changes to the game. You shouldn't have trouble identifying the client as it will be clearly labeled 'TEST', just so you don't confuse the two (those Blizzard folks are so clever!). When you log on, you can access the TTR by toggling the "Select Realm" option which will open up a selection window with two tabs: Test Server and Tournament. Simply toggle the Tournament tab and you will see the Realm named "Arena Tournament" -- select it, press Okay, and you should be good to go. If you have trouble logging in, note that the PTRs remember your password around the time when it went live, so if you changed your password within the last few weeks, try using your old password. Have fun with on the tournament server!Filed under: Patches, How-tos, Walkthroughs, Arena

So, if your account was disabled a while back (about a month) how do you get into the test realm? It says your password is invalid, after downloading all the friggin updates.
Percephene Mar 6th 2008 5:47PM
The login access for the test realms is based on accounts that were active at a certain date. (Sorry I'm not sure what it was, but they usually say on the Test Realm Forums)
If your account was not active at this time for whatever reason, you won't be able to access the test realms this time around, sorry :(
At least thats my understanding of it.

i tried downloading the PTR client, and it tells me "could not initialize storage. you may not have permission to write to the destination path."
im on a mac, anyone know what the deal is and how i can get the PTR client working?
Zach Mar 6th 2008 1:43AM
Make sure that you have Administrator privileges on your Mac, otherwise, the you might not have the right permissions to write on your destination disk. If you have multiple users enabled, log in from the main account.
Also check if your downloads are set to save in a place where you have access to. You can check that from your browser. If you use Firefox, you can go to Firefox > Preferences > Main > Downloads. You can select the Folder you can save to. Hope that helps!

You have to take the downloader out of the folder its in and put it on the desktop, then you can use it correctly.
