Where I can agree with you on many parts of your article, I have to disagree on just 2 points. I've had a Holy Paladin for 2 1/2 years now and I love him. Sure, we only have two heals but that's fine with me. When I picked him, I knew I would only have two heals and no HoT spells. Each healing class has his or her own special healing abilities. We are the one hitters. We have a big Holy Light heal for the iffy parts and an amazing mana saver in Flash. Need an instant heal? Holy Shock, though it has its drawbacks, can be used to save a player to give you enough time to get out a HL.Secondly, as I've strongly said for a long time now, Ret has been, and always will be, a support tree. I believe this is why Blizzard has not given us any melee attacks besides SoR. There's too many problems in the bottom half of the Ret tree and personally, I don't see the need to fix that. The top half is all support skills which can benefit Prot and Holy Paladins alike. I'm fine with the way the Ret tree works.-Aticus, http://www.paladintales.blogspot.com

Hey Aticus. =) Yeah, I really do enjoy healing, even when it is with just two buttons. That said, Paladin healing can use a little more versatility. Note that I also say this with a PvP point of view (I do write a PvP column, after all), as it severely gimps our mobility not to have any instant heals, HoTs, or damage mitigating shields (not BoP).As far as Ret being a support tree is concerned, I have to say that the changes in 2.3 made Retribution more than viable as DPS in raids. Particularly in static fights (e.g. Lurker, VR), Retribution can dish out massive DPS. I think I've topped more than a few myself. Arena viability is another matter altogether, however. Ugh.

Thanks for replying Zach :-)Yeah, I can see how we would be handicapped in a PVP setting. We're just statues with yellow orbs coming out of our hands with only some plate to protect us :D. The sad thing is, as a 40/11/10, and with the right gear, a Paladin can also top the DPS in battlegrounds. That's the only reason why I was saying that Ret can lack.(PS: Also, I find it awesome that you're actively responding to the posters. I think more bloggers should do this).-Aticus, http://www.paladintales.blogspot.com
