Central US woes [updated]
According to Drysc, there's a Blizzard-external network problem in the central United States that is currently affecting several WoW realms. Symptoms include high latency, packet loss, disconnection, or inability to connect; side effects may include broken keyboards and bruised fists, or in severe cases, deciding to stop playing WoW for the evening.I'm not sure which realms are affected, but it's nice to know that this is being worked on anyway; the glowing tree promises that they are actively receiving updates from the (unnamed) parties involved. There is currently no ETA on a fix. I'll keep you posted if I hear anything else. In the mean time, let's start building a list: if your realm is acting up, let us know in the comments.
Update: Drysc is saying the issue "appears to have been resolved," but they're still keeping an eye on it.

I dunno if its my server, because as far as I know I'm the only one having this trouble, but I currently cannot stay logged into Cenarion Circle for longer than 5 minutes. Much to my chagrin.

Its not just Central servers - Arygos, an Eastern time zone server, has had these problems for months.

My guild, In Exile on Malfurion US, experienced this during SSC last night. Multiple DCs at once. Nasty lag. All the bad things that make raiding nearly impossible. The SSC general chat noted that other guilds in the instance were experiencing the same thing.
Some of us were speculating that they might be hot-fixing 2.4 stuff into the game ahead of the patch itself might and that might be making things buggy. Good to know that this appears to be external to Blizzard.
Hope this gets fixed soon.

Eredar is having problems...

I'm on Twisting Nether (US) and its a central time server. Until this post, i thought that all my lag and connection issues were problems with my own computer or internet. Im glad to find that its the server and not me XD.

Ravencrest was having problems last night, I haven't checked today yet.

@3: its funny you mention SSC because my roommate was there with his guild yesterday and all 25 of them got dc'd and couldnt log back on. verrrrrry interesting

It's definitely not just Central time zone servers; Tichondrius (Pacific Time Zone) has been acting especially fussy, instantly disconnecting people as they log on for a period last night.

I've been unable to connect to Medivh all day, it seems to hang on handshaking.
I'm kinda bummed, this is my first day off in two weeks and I can't play WoW.

This has nothing to do really with the sever location (West, East, central) but more to do where geographically you are located in the United States. Data has to flow to you from the Blizz servers via hubs, and if one of the hubs is jacked up, it will cause packet loss and your connection to be terrible.

What, what?!
If the one of the MAEs are jacked, then I'd agree. But the Internet itself was engineered to be self-healing and route around problem areas unless the problem is at a high-level exchange. The issue is probably further down, at one of their colocation facilities.

The issue was so bad on Whisperwind that we had to pug like 6 people just to get started on High-King. We didn't even attempt Gruul's because of a lack of good DPS.

I'm on Emerald Dream (East Coast US) and play from Australia and have been experiencing the same problems (disconnects, unable to re-connect).

dalaran, big time probs last night.

Eitrigg seems to be seeing some issues. one of our Illidan fire tanks keeps DC'ing.
DarkAudit Mar 6th 2008 10:12PM
The common thread here is nearly every realm mentioned is at the Dallas datacenter.

Been having a few problems, myself, good to know that there's some recognition of the actual problem, whatever it may be.

Khaz'Modan has been acting up hardcore these last couple days.
GuitarBurst05 Mar 6th 2008 9:38PM
Ravencrest has still been weird today, but not as frequently. Only once have I been kicked, thankfully not during my time in the Mechanar.
Talus Mar 6th 2008 9:53PM
Kael'Thas was acting up last night. Makes sense that this is a problem based upon where you are located. My cousin and myself both got kicked at the same time and we are in the Central time zone, however two of the people in my party last night are in different time zones and didn't notice anything abnormal (Other than most of the server disappearing)
