I actually agree. No good reason to have a pet at all, and frankly I'd much rather have a 'flameform' like shadowform as my 51 point talent in fire anyway.I don't believe that mages (or any class for that matter with the possible exception of rogue) should be a virtual shoo-in for the tops of the meters. What I do believe is that mages need to stop being seen as portal/water/decursebots. No one rolled the class to make people tables, and while it's definately something needed to help a raid, it shouldn't be what we're brought along for.Mages aren't hybrids. We're a damage class, just like rogues and locks. Competative with equal gear? Absolutely. On movement fights? Probably not first. But let's face it, straight nuking, we really should be up there. It's what the class was designed for.
