New alchemist stone stats transmuted
A couple of the new Alchemist Stones in Patch 2.4 have had their stats changed in the past few days. I assume this change was made to make them more friendly to a wider variety of classes and specs, but you can never say for sure! The Assassin's Alchemist Stone originally came packing +54 Critical Strike Rating, but now carries +108 Attack Power instead. The caster version, the Sorcerer's Alchemist Stone, has shifted over to +63 Damage/Healing from its original +54 Spell Hit Rating.
I can't speak for everyone, but those seem to be pretty good changes to me. Of course, my main is one of the classes/specs that don't need much Spell Hit, so I'm probably rather biased in that area. If you'd like to take a look at a screenshot of the updated stats for the Alchemist Stones, just hop on past the jump.

So they're BoP, and requires 375 alch to make, but only 350 to use? What?

Technically, you could make it as an alchemist and then drop the profession. Requiring 350 prevents you from abandoning the craft. Similar to the Tailoring patterns. BOP, require 375 tailoring to make, but the bonuses only activate if you are a Tailor. So you could make them and drop tailoring, but it would be counter-productive.
With regards to the stone, if I were an alchemist, I would have preferred +spell hit as a mage, but I'm not switching from Tailoring/Enchanting just to make a trinket.

Admittedly, having it be hit might have been nice, but the hit is so easily obtained by set pieces that it would have been useless for a lot of people. The number was just too high.
Never can have enough damage though! I wouldn't have used it before, but definately will now. (Since lord knows I likely won't be getting a Skull any time soon.)

Does the "+40% to healing and mana pots" apply to warlocks health stones?
Noothing Mar 7th 2008 1:26PM
Why would it? They aren't pots...

No, but it does work with Mad Alchemist Potion.

Im gonna say that things that end in "Potion" will be effected, things like "healthstone" and food items and "hearthstones" will not be effected.....

I made a post on the test realm forums about the current state of alchemy.
While I agree these stones are a good start, they leave much to be desired. The Melee dps classes get left in the cold, because they don't chain health pot, and only 2 have mana pools. Tanks shouldn't be chain health potting either, and adding defense instead of agi/stam/dodge/expertise just boggles my mind. Caster dps gets a pretty good situational trinket that gives that extra oomph for fights like Kaz'rogal.
By far the best trinket of the bunch is the Healer one. Healers always seem to be chain potting in intense encounters, and their trinket essentially gives them 40mp5. That's more +heal and mana regen than the trinket off Illidan.
I offered a simple solution to "fix" all these trinkets on my test realm forum post. Make the equip bonus affect all flasks/elixirs/potions. That would make alchemy an indispensable raiding profession, and finally give us a "best in slot" item.
I also offered my take on the other issues facing alchemists, gathers, and several other professions. You can find it here: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=5103874633&sid=1&pageNo=1
