I am sure there are exceptions but I think the first time you got pulled into a Writers meeting at Blizzard and they asked you to take your submission and "sex it up" or try adding some cliche'd key words you'd be ready to go back to McDonalds and spend some quality time at the Fry station.

I would tend to disagree. Programming is something I love doing, and I do it as a career.
Doing something you love gives you the incentive to put up with early starts, commutes from hell and low pay.
