WoW Moviewatch: Assassine trailer
Some have accused this trailer of being a blatant ripoff of Fury. But I have to be honest with you, I don't mind if it is. I love me some action-based World of Warcraft machinima. The author said his longer piece will be available in April and when it is, I'll be there to check it out.

she was pretty hot. why did she have a paladin horse if she is a rogue?

That's a pretty asinine way to spell assassin.

More like Asinine Trailer. I can see why people think this is a knock-off of Fury. It's one of the new wave of 'epic action' wow machinima, and the problem is that most people just can't do it right. This trailer is poorly choreographed, the model-viewed characters look utterly fake the entire way through, even the thrown knife looks like it shouldn't be there. The music isn't even used very well (people also need to get off this Immediate Music horse, just because you use something from a professional trailer-music production company doesn't mean you can produce a professional trailer).
Let's see some substance over style please, and when it comes to style, if you cannot do it well, then don't do it at all, because it looks bloody awful.

After looking at the second Fury trailer, I'd say Assassine is only trying to emulate Seksi's visual style. The two seem to be leagues apart when it comes to story (i.e., we have some idea what Fury is going to be about by looking at the trailers; Assassine, not so much).
And what's with all the Media Ventures-style music popping up in these drama/action machinima these days? I understand that original music is hard to come by, given the nonexistent budgets of these things, but not every machinima needs to sound like a Bruckheimer film.

And I didn't see TB's post when I wrote this one, honest. I just type slow...

It looks like Fury if it were made by stoned monkeys.

Stoned monkeys?
Ok your turn to make something better.
Here is the Fury Trailer #2

My comments about the video:
Horribly done, things stuck out enough that it looked like it would be a montage with the person running across the moving background saying they are traveling.

Rashi - Please for the love of god, don't regale us with any more of your 'comments'. You seem not to know jack-shit about machinima and your prose contains little more than stilted, trite subjective opinion. No credibility what-so-ever.

god their fricken machinima not oscar nominated films.. I don't care how they are presented as long as their interesting to watch.
TotalBiscuit Mar 11th 2008 7:55PM
That's exactly the kind of dumb attitude that's rotting the very core of New Media.
"We don't care how it looks, it's just machinima/podcasts/blogs/youtube etc etc". Yeah well, y'know what? Some of us do give a damn about how our work is seen, and we're sick and tired of being lumped in with the talentless hacks that see that internet as fair game for putting their terrible creations on the table, and god forbid they actually learn from their mistakes and take advice from their betters, because this is the internet people! You can't be wrong on the internet.
