2.4 invades the background downloader

Note that the patch is not, in fact, being released today, or even necessarily next week. But I would bet that it won't be more than a few weeks until the Sunwell is upon us. And when the patch does drop, someone's going to win fabulous prizes! More importantly, I'll have some new dailies to do. Hurry it up, Blizz (but don't release it before it's ready, of course).
Edit: Patch 2.3 was on the background downloader for 12 days before it was released, and 2.1 was 11 days. But 2.2 was on for over a month, so it's hard to predict for sure how this will go.
[Thanks, Amarius (and multiple other tipsters)]

I want to get to 70 before the patch comes out... I guess that won't be happening...
Zarzuur Mar 12th 2008 9:29PM
Me too, I've got 2 apprentices at lvls 67-69 grinding out XP, ready to send them to Quel'Danas in only 10+ days .. it will be close!

That language really necessary?

i can't wait for the patch just so i can get to spend every day doing 25 daily quests (joke). Seriously though, the highlight for me will be upgrading my Lionheart Champion to the Executioner :)

I was hoping for some love for Feral and Balance which could need some tweaks, but so far there's only been nerfs that was intended to make Restoration more levelled with everyone else, but so far Feral and Balance have also suffered because of it :(
Well on the good side I soon get to know if it's even worth playing Feral/Balance anymore so I can spend my honor-points on Restoration gear and play the specc which is seemingly becoming more and more the only thing we'll be using in PvP... *cough*...
/boo... :(

I think you're overestimating the coherence that went into the change decisions. Sure, there might be really smart people working on the balance tweaking, but the decision making skills we're seeing out of the organization as a whole is like a defective baboon.
OMG druids do well in 2v2! change something! anything! OMG that change was terrible.. something else! That's about what I see here. I can only thank my lucky stars the changes won't seriously damage PVE.

God Forbid that Blizzard doesn't release a patch at the exact date that would win you prizes. I mean, that's all they're worried about, right? Keeping you happy?

I really hope it comes out this upcoming Tuesday. Spring Break for high schools in Northern Virginia is next week.
Ooooh buddy I can already taste the Commendation of Kael'Thas on my Warrior Tank already...

wait, TWO.4? was there some kind of expansion pack that i missed?
Charlie Taylor Mar 12th 2008 9:31PM
Dude, 2.x was released BEFORE TBC. We've had 2.x patches for over a year now. Seeing as the original game was 1.x, being after TBC would be 2.x. I'm guessing that it will be 3.x after WotLK
Xeren Mar 12th 2008 9:34PM
DUDE, i was joking around.
mostly to get someone like you to reply in a very serious manner so we could all have a good laugh.
sorry :(
Sakerin Mar 13th 2008 8:17AM
Hmm ... maybe no-one else got the joke then. I didn't laugh. Sorry.
onetrueping Mar 13th 2008 8:32AM
That's okay, you aren't really sugar anyway.
Naix Mar 13th 2008 10:47AM
If you don't laugh that does not stop it from being funny.
Never tell someone that it's a joke if they are not laughing. Cuase you will get the same canned response of "I am not laughing"
Just laugh and move on.

Hurr, the amount of unfunny stick in the muds around here who take everything so seriously is reaching critical levels.
jrodman Mar 13th 2008 3:02PM
I'm all for whimsy, but please put more spicey in the mix.

So the life-cycle of the patch from a Shaman point of view will go like this?
1) Nerf several Shaman abilities (again) causing concern from the Shaman community.
2) Kalgan admits Shaman, especially Enhancement, needs work to be competitive in PvP, and promise considerable buffs are on the way, to placate the Shaman community.
3) Trial a PTR patch bringing in more nerfs (including Enhancement's 41-point talent) some slight buffs, and some fairly major buffs.
4) Remove fairly major buffs, at the same time as rolling back Warlock nerfs (don't get me wrong though, the Lifetap nerf was overboard and needed to be rolled back)
5) Start uploading the nearly finalised patch via the updater.
No wonder Shaman are pissed off.

6) ???
7) Profit!
