WoW Moviewatch: Assassinate
Nyhm, rebounding from his disastrous Pretty Fly for a Draenei, decided to make a video, Assassinate, for the rogues. Apparently, he likes to hide out on alts and has grown to love the class. The machinima is designed to fit around the song. While not flashy, it does the job just fine.
Excellent comeback to PFfaD, Nyhm!

I wouldn't say Pretty Fly for a Draenei was a disaster... it had its moments.
Yogurtron Mar 16th 2008 1:09PM
Yeah, I was gonna say the same thing. I don't know why you call the Draenei one disastrous. I liked it myself, and it was far better than this one. A good copy of the original or not, if the song wasn't great to begin with... well
SorryNyhm Mar 17th 2008 11:25AM
Sorry Nyhm, but you fell off buddy. Have to give this one 2thumbs DOWN.
Parody of a bad song = BAD SONG
dust off your Weird Al cd's and start taking notes for your next project.
Zeplar Mar 16th 2008 1:16PM
Hey this one was pretty good in my opinion.
Anotherspy Mar 16th 2008 3:01PM
So....
Yeah i was reading his skateboard trics.
So What!:P
Did you read them?
anonymoose Mar 16th 2008 1:24PM
Ditto--I didn't think the dranei vid was bad, and I don't think this is bad. They are parodies, so if they lack perfection--I'm not sure what the issue is? I think he does a nice job for the parodies, send ups, takeoffs, whatever you want to call this genre.
I'm not sure why all the hate?
Moo Money Mar 16th 2008 1:34PM
I'm not hating! I said that I thought that this video was much better than PFfaD and that I didn't understand it until I saw the video it was parodying. I like the video!
anonymoose Mar 16th 2008 2:41PM
Hi Moo, thanks for the clarification. If I may be so bold as to offer a critique--with the text accompanying the link being quite short, what sticks with the reader most is that there was initial revulsion to the music, and use of the term "rebound from disastrous " (reworded for my convenience) only adds to the sense that there is dislike for not just this video, but other videos produced by this person.
I don't think I'm the only person who walked away with this impression, as the commentary from other readers indicates.
I know you have limited time/space and I'm not sure how I would resolve it--except perhaps avoid referencing the last video more than to mention its name and focus instead on the experience you had with *this* video of initially disliking the music enough to check out the original song, which seems to have led to greater appreciation for the parody. (This is a guess on my part about your experience.)
What is interesting to note--the last video posted from this person drew some of the same "It's not a bad video" commentary, including what I think may have been a near word for word comment from Nyhm's friend.
I think as a genre, machinima is pretty hard to nail down into perfection unless you have unlimited time and resources. I accept a great deal of rough machinma because of this, knowing that as a working mom with zero motivation to attempt any vid making, that folks who can and do are going where I wouldn't and don't.

I've spoken with him a few times back when my video stream actually had visitors (before Youtube screwed it up and took 11 weeks to fix it) and I can tell ya this:
Nyhm and his 'posse' are just good peeps...
Nyhm's true genious is in his writing... his lyrics, parody or otherwise are very funny and clever. Only thing of his I've never liked was Lockstar... and btw, he knows where his singing/rapping talent rates...;-)
One of the nicest guys around..bravo on a breat job Nyhm.
madphilb Mar 16th 2008 4:46PM
Nhym in his comments about Lockstar on the WoW Movies site says that people where asking for a rock tune and now they know why he doesn't do them.
Consequently, Lockstar is the only one of his videos (aside from the last two, only cuz I'm lazy and haven't converted them yet) that I don't have on my Zune.

god i hate the mentality of rogues
kr3wman Mar 16th 2008 2:09PM
I don't really like Nyhm. : /
Even if the lyrics he writes are kinda good...
There's just no feeling to it. I don't get how people like this.
Rashi Mar 16th 2008 3:05PM
I prefer his faster more upbeat style of parodies, so it was still good, but not the one of his best on my chart.
Karnage Mar 16th 2008 4:20PM
did this idiot really say nhyms version is better than xzibits?!
LOL
fucking nerdfag
brucimus Mar 16th 2008 4:45PM
I don't know who or what a xzibits is...I guess he/she/its some marginally talented rapper?
but what i do know is... Nyhms vids used to be fun loving and positive not this wannabe gangsta trash he's doing now
another thing i know ...MS Warriors laugh at rogues and their girlie little daggers. Try to assassinate a MS Warrior and you will get lol OVERPOWERED
Zegim Mar 16th 2008 5:18PM
While I agree this is horrible compared to the original, I wouldn't word it that way.
Xzibit has a great flow.
Ashwin Mar 20th 2008 6:35AM
Pretty fly for a Draenei was a disaster? How so?
Stormscape Mar 16th 2008 4:26PM
I think Nyhm has declined a bit. Ni hao was catchy, death-knight-spree was BRILLIANT, and Hard like Heroic was pretty entertaining, his videos have been of a lower quality. Maybe he's just getting lazy or maybe it something else, but I've noticed a significant drop in quality.
madphilb Mar 16th 2008 4:46PM
Dude! "Just Loot It" was classic.
I can see people shying away from the last two, I liked PFfaD, this one is more an issue of me not caring for the song too much (it's just not "catchy" to me), but it's still going in my collection.
I wouldn't say his work is on decline, more I would guess it's just he hasn't done anything lately that resonates with ya.

Eh, as a Druid, and a full-blown supporter of the DruidBoyZ, I can't in good conscience, support Nhym's little jab at them when he talks about a superior class midway through the first verse.
