"Patch 2.4 = soon," says Eyonix
So as you may remember, the majority of our readers expected patch 2.4 to fall on March 18th, which, being that today is St. Patrick's Day, is tomorrow. Also, this weekend, the PTR got taken down (although Blizzard claimed it was because more testing was happening on the tournament test realm -- the TTR -- and not because the patch was ready for prime time). And, oh yeah, the patch has already started downloading in the Background Downloader. So are we looking at patch 2.4 tomorrow? Frankly, we have no idea. I tend to say no, because it seems like Blizzard wants to do a little more testing, but I've been wrong before, and even though I think tomorrow is too soon, I can't think of what more testing Blizzard might need to do. For Blizzard's part, Eyonix says that patch 2.4 is coming soon (and that season 4 in the Arenas is coming relatively "not soon"). Then again, Blizzard's standard answer for when anything is coming is usually "soon," so who knows what they mean by that.
If it doesn't come tomorrow, then we're definitely looking at next Tuesday, since it seems that Blizzard is almost completely ready to go live. But if our readers are right (and my original guess is as well -- I originally said it would drop before Easter, which is this Sunday), we'll see all those PTR changes (and the Sunwell!) on the live realms tomorrow.

Quick question:
Will Arena season 2 gear be available for Honor when 2.4 hits?
trying to decide if i want to hold on to my honor a little bit longer.
Votum Mar 17th 2008 1:41PM
That should be when Season 4 starts, which apparently is not going to be right away with 2.4.
Warcloud Mar 17th 2008 2:14PM
Blizzard did confirm that Season 2 gear will be buyable with honor when Season 4 hits. However, they will give no hints as to when Season 4 will come out, except that it's definitely not, with patch 2.4

I'm kind of surprised they wrapped it up so soon; they were making relatively large changes to fundamental class abilities right up until the very end.

With the slow roll out of the bosses in Sunwell and in theory the daily quests being unlocked in stages, it's actually a wise move. Being on the PTR for full testing would have less of an impact on those later bosses, and people are itching for new content. The stuff being put out is tested pretty effectively, and there will likely be private tests of what's left.
I'm just thankful they seem to have learned their lesson after 2.2.

Its defiantly official. The patch is coming tomorrow...maybe.

Yea, what happend to the shaman buffs Kalgan broke his silence for to tell us about? There was the lame Flametongue change, and then that was it, and they reverted it.
I guess, as always, we'll be waiting until the next patch.

I dont see it for a month but i just want to win the contest.
Starlin Mar 17th 2008 1:45PM
Considering there are no holiday changes to rush out for this weekend, I'd bet they'd hold off until after the holiday weekend.
Hank Mar 17th 2008 2:02PM
I expect it this week or next, more likely this week, because in a lot of places, school is out next week.
Jasperwind Mar 17th 2008 2:43PM
School is out here this week.

Fixing Shamans in PvP said Kalgan...
these 2 don't go together

Epic fail on Kalgan's part. Not really surprised anymore.

On March 3rd, Julian Morris said Patch 2.4 would be out in a couple of months. That means ... month of May.

Of course, the part that says "a couple of months" is not quoted as being said by him. But unless the article writer made it up, it may have been said to him off-panel by Morris.
"Sunwell Isle will be available for players in the next couple of months, and brings with it a slew of new content, including Magister’s Terrace, a five person dungeon where players will face Prince Kael’thas, and Sunwell Plateau, a 25-player dungeon, which will serve as the final chapter of the Burning Crusade storyline."

I'll pass out gold to newbs if the patch goes live.
But it's not. No sooner than a month.
