Blizzard doesn't deliver on Pandaren Express

The prank was criticized for supporting the belief that World or Warcraft players are lazy and obsessed. I can understand the complaint, but I admit to tabbing out while waiting for arena queues to order pizza online at least once or twice.
A recent Breakfast Topic has pitted lovers and haters of Pandaren in bitter dispute. Many players are interested in making giant-panda people a playable race in the game. If you're a fan of Pandaren, you can still download "promotional" Pandaren Express wallpaper from the WoW official site. If you don't love Pandaren, rest assured that there are no signs that they will become a part of the game any time soon.
For those of you who have been in the game for less than a year, Blizzard is notorious for the amount of effort they put into their pranks. Previous holiday jokes include Burgercraft, Evil Patch notes, Wisps as the Burning Crusade addition to the Alliance. I can't wait to see what they come up with this year.

People took it as saying that WoW players were lazy and obsessed? Sheeh, talk about reading into it too much...Samwise just REALLY likes Pandas, ever look at Illidan's warglaives in WC3?

I'm cheerfully lazy and obsessed.
GIMMIE PANDAS.
Lothy Mar 18th 2008 9:36AM
The /panda was an April Fool's prank in response to Sony putting /pizza into Everquest http://everquest2.station.sony.com/pizza/
But yes, no /panda for WoW which makes me a sad panda. :(

Um, I thought we all WERE lazy and obsessed?

Do you bloggers bother to research ANYTHING? Geez a simple search on WoWWiki would reveal that Pandaren Express was a paradoy of EQII's /pizza comand that was largely ridiculed in the WoW community because all it did was launch the users default web browser to PizzaHut.com. WoW developers insist they would have handled it better.
RanWitScissorz Mar 18th 2008 9:50AM
I wish they had stuff like that, I actually used the /pizza command before in eq2. I wish WoW would use /gems also from eq1, how great that was for passing time during raids!

What was funny was that with the wisps there is actually a hint at the Draenei.
(the picture of Archimonde under attack)
I remember someone said, and what about that guy who get's attacked? and everyone was like, NO WAI that is an eredar an evil demon they will never end up in the Alliance.

Personally, I use a castsequence macro for bubble-hearth.

Wow, people must have nothing else better to do than complain about Pandaren.
Iskur Mar 18th 2008 11:44AM
It may have been a joke but blizzard really messed up by not realizing that /panda or for that matter a simply /food was a fantastic idea.
Take a hardcore player. If blizzard gets a 10% commission from every sale and a hardcore player orders $10 in food every night that’s and extra $30 a month. That’s twice the subscription fee. Blizzard really missed the boat on this one.

The prank had nothing to do with people being lazy or obsessed. It was making fun of the /pizza command that Sony tried out in EverQuest 2 for a time.
Seriously, people will find anythign they can to be pissed at Blizzard for.
And you know what? The ones bitching are probably the ones who sit on WoW for 16 hours a day screaming "OMFG YOU STUPID N00B!!LKFJELKJPOIEFJEPFIJFIIFIFIFEIJ"

"Blizzard is notorious for the amount of effort they put into their pranks."
Now if they would put some of that energy into getting their expansions done and fixing all the bugs instead of trying and failing at being funny, they might not go out of business when Conan and Warhammer come out.
Pandarans are the single most retarded concept I have ever heard in a game by a grown-up. Why not magic rainbow ponies next?

There's nothing wrong with being lazy. It's a gift that some of us have worked for many years to earn.
Much like the WoW-Southpark business though, I'm offended when i'm grouped with the stereotypical lazy fat slob image just because I play some video game. Some of us are healthy successful types.
