Breakfast Topic: Patch 2.4, for better or for worse?

The day that patch 2.3 was released I attempted to rush home from work to check out the new changes, but was thwarted by cross-town traffic. There are some things that I'm excited about for in the newest patch, but I'm not nearly as stoked as I was for the last major update. I try to keep in mind that what we've seen so far on the Public Test Realm is not the final product for the patch, but it gives us a pretty good indication of what's coming.
Some players have vowed to retire from WoW, at until the release of Wrath of the Lich King. Then again, patch 2.3 had its naysayers, but did not destroy the World of Warcraft as some predicted. For better or for worse, there will be adjustments. Some of us will be happier than others, I've made the decision to embrace change. Patches help keep the game new and interesting.
Amid the buffs, nerfs, new content, and item updates, how do you feel about the Fury of the Sunwell patch? Is there anything your anxiously anticipating or dreading?

Go to the TTR, leave the game and wait for Warhammer, or go play Halo 3, Gears of War, Counter Strike... or any other gerneric FPS if you want to PvP . In WoW, it should always be PvE > PvP.

I'll call a wahmbulance for you. If you find WoW stale because all you want to do is PvP, then kindly piss off. Go play Counterstrike some more.

New dailies is nice, since I coudn't see myself doing all the current ones on a regular basis after i switched to my 70 warrior as my new main. New 5man is neat, although considering how many were added in the expansion, another 10man would have been better. Not sure that having 2 10mans for level70 can be considered "a lot" compared to pre-TBC even though Blizard said they would focus more on the smaller raid size before the expansion was released.
Oh well, still a nice big patch to keep us happy till WOTLK, although I do wonder if they really do plan to make this the last major one before then since it isn't due till at least mid-summer/autumn. Guess we'll have to wait and see

I'm happy to check out new things - I have a bunch of toons so I'm sure the nerf's/buffs will effect me somehow but I don't care.....
I take this for what it is, a very fun GAME.
Peace

Well said. Have fun in there. When you stop having fun, stop playing.

Honestly, I'm pretty apathetic about the damn thing. I haven't been terribly excited about this patch, for a while now, and there's not a whole lot that's made me feel aquiver with anticipation about its impending arrival. But that's me, and I will never attempt to pass my opinion off as a majority's.

I am looking forward to it for my alts with the new 5 mans mainly. Badge loot is nice, I dont get all QQing over the welfare epics of badge loot. Even running Kara and dailies 100 badges for 1 piece is a lot and if somebody can farm 100 per week easy I really would not call them casual.

any one else hearing rumors about a surprise price drop on epic mounts in 2.4? i am.. and it is only 1 level of separation from a GM.
Jim Mar 19th 2008 10:39AM
This has been shot down on the official forums violently the past few weeks, with Bornakk handing out bans for people even asking about it.
Zarzuur Mar 19th 2008 11:46AM
I don't see why they would do this anyway, since AFAIK the epic mount will still be the top speed in Wrath, and they don't hand out the rarest stuff. It's not like it is a intermediate mount which everyone will need to have in Northrend.
Super Guest Man 9000 Mar 19th 2008 9:56AM
I'm excited about any new content. Anything that adds to the game I like. More over the chance at badges from daily rewards is nice as it will help me gear up my *other* 70s that don't get the attention my main does.

I'm not being funny but let's not forget this is a hugely popular game with millions of subscribers. I'm just saying, they must be doing something right. I'm still having fun after years of playing, and the biggest thing that screwed me in all that time were two sets of friends convincing me to come to EU, then US, then EU again. Even that's mostly my fault for listening.
WoW is a constantly evolving game, and it's up to us to evolve with it. Druids have to learn to run an extra 10 yards before they can CC the rest of us, warlocks have to adapt to reduced survivability. I don't think Blizzard has ever broken a class, and I don't think they ever will. I know we like to feel like gods in all our games, but that will never happen in an online world, especially one with PvP elements. But that's what keeps it a challenge, and why people keep playing it, and come back to it after they "quit".
They've clearly continued working hard, and as a result have produced some very promising new content that we should all find something in to enjoy.

What I find kinda disturbing... no annoying... is how many people throw fits over patches. "It doesn't have V... they took away W, they put in X and it does Y to Z...
I see empty threats about 'leaving' the game because it is 'ruined'... I see boycotts, and QQing...
Doth protest too much me thinks... when you started playing did you say 'I can't play this game until they change X to Y so I can Z'...
Bottomline, it's still a great game, and you will miss it if you decide to be rash and 'boycott'... but you'll be back, oh you'll be back!!!

Re: price drop for epic mounts.
GMs know nothing about future content patches until they go live. In fact they are often ill informed about things that are in the game currently that do not get asked about often enough to make their standard crib sheets.
Please - no more 'a GM told me' stories.
theRaptor Mar 19th 2008 11:35AM
A GM told me that epic mounts weren't dropping price because a hunters pet tanked nefarion.
Milktub Mar 19th 2008 11:45AM
I'm excited, but I still wish that two things would happen before the patch drops:
1. I get exalted with Thrallmar. This is the only Outland faction that I'm not exalted with (excluding the pointless ones such as Netherwing), and I want full exalted rep before moving onto another rep grind.
2. I get the damn Sun Eater.
Xonate Mar 19th 2008 2:48PM
Best way to get the Sun Eater is to get exalted with... I guess Thrallmar... and get the tanking weapon, assuming the Horde faction items are basically the same as the Alliance ones. I finally got the rep to get Honor's Call from Honor Hold, and literally, an hour and a half later, the Sun Eater decided to drop for me.
alanm26 Mar 19th 2008 2:46PM
I'm torn between being excited and wanting the patch to be farther off. Our guild just got MH/BT attuned recently, and we're currently 3/5MH, 0/9 BT. I was hoping we'd be done or much closer to done by the time Sunwell hit. As long as we're farming Sunwell before the expansion, I'd be happy though.
Mindstrike Mar 19th 2008 3:04PM
I am looking forward to the new 5 man..badges loots.. but what I am not looking forward to is the craptastic lag about to hit when this goes live... It will be like when TBC came out.. Hellfire was crazy laggish.. now we are all one smaller island... Might be best for me to stay in the "old country" until things settle down.
(Ya right.. you know Blizz needs you to grind that new rep.. Get to IT!)
Warcloud Mar 19th 2008 3:55PM
I can't play on the PTR, but from what I've seen of the new 25-man raid, it looks great. That's what I can't wait to get into.
