Predicting the WoTLK cinematic
The Gnomes are revolting on the official forums! Also, some of them are mad. Lead by Gnomium of the Aggramar server, they are demanding that they be included in the opening cinematic for WoTLK. It is certainly true that they haven't really had their chance in the sun for the past 2 major cinematics, although to be fair, the Trolls didn't get much more than a quick flash across the screen. Still, I can get behind this, and not just because I like my ankles non-bitten. Give them some Gnomish love, eh Blizzard? Maybe even let one use an engineering trinket without backfiring! Or, you know, just give us a tableau of Lake Wintergrasp with Gnomes being loaded into catapults and flung at the advancing Horde, either way.
Of course, we can't really have the WoTLK Cinematic be all Gnome all the time, so how do they fill the rest of it? I have to say, there's potential here. We'll probably need a massive army of Scourge, seething masses of ghouls dotted with the odd abomination or meat wagon. Perhaps we could see a group of adventurers descending into Azjol-Nerub only to be set upon by a platoon of vicious Nerubians. For the amazingly, unbelievably epic win, we could even feature a Blue Dragon vs. Red Dragon battle, since apparently Alexstraza herself will be helping us stop Malygos' mad plans to control all magic in the world. We'll probably also need at least one or two scenes of a "rebel" Death Knight fighting the scourge or breaking free of Arthas' control.
What do you think? What other scenes would you like to see in assuredly soon-to-be-released (We hope) FMV cinematic for WoTLK?

they haven't shown human pallies, they should because of arthas being one and all, they shouldn't have one of other races like the draenei and Blood elves.

i also noted that gnomes are the only old worlde alliance race absent in stature from the stormwind city entrance. poor gnomies. QQ

i just want a scene where a troll hunter fights a gnome mage and then flashes to something else. that way both trolls and gnomes get their share of fame in the cinematics
scholargipsy Mar 19th 2008 7:18PM
More trolls! I want to see some Darkspears shivering in a snowsquall, or fighting their northern Ice Troll cousins.
Minnow Mar 19th 2008 7:26PM
We want Icecrown Glacier nowzz!
Magnetite2 Mar 19th 2008 7:30PM
Has to be a giggly female gnome with pink hair in there somewhere!
Of course, since the gnomes are (in)famous for their engineering, maybe it's them behind the camera?

OK, here's how this needs to pan out.
The key races of the Burning Crusade were the Draenei, the Blood Elves and to a slightly lesser extent, the orcs. True to form, the BC cinematic highlighted those two primarily, and the orcs got a big part.
This time around, the key races are those tied into the undead storyline -- The humans and undead. So expect to see them a lot. However! The key draw is the Death Knight. There will be many of them.
I predict a massive undead vs. undead battle, human's battling against frost dragons, and, yes, gnomes.
Also, nice sinister shots of Death Knights.

If they put a gnome in, it should be a white-haired male caster. Those are the only ones who look halfway cool. The LAST thing they should do is put a female one with the big pink pom-pom hairdo, especially if it's a warrior. Sorry, but the pink looks ridiculous, and so does the hairdo. And gnome warriors are an abomination.
I want to see a shaman in the trailer, preferably a troll, but I'll accept any of the Horde races.
Also, I think we've gotta see Arthas.
scholargipsy Mar 20th 2008 9:16PM
I second the request for a troll shaman in the cinematic!
Wulfhere Mar 19th 2008 7:53PM
Just make it all gnomes and trolls. Maybe then they'll be quiet about it, although I doubt it.
Sneakstar Mar 19th 2008 7:55PM
Gnome rogue in all his S3 gear and deathblow goggles poultreyizing a troll hunter/shaman?
CursedSeishi Mar 19th 2008 8:01PM
What i'd love to see, is a closeup on a group of deathknights marching, and suddenly one rebels, splitting the helmet of the deathknight ahead of him/her before taking out the rest of them, and afterwards, remove their helmet and trudge off towards the Icecrown Glacier
andyjay220 Mar 19th 2008 8:07PM
How awesome if the deathknight splits the helm of the guy in front of him, and the armor falls away to reveal 3 gnomes stacked up in the costume trying to pose as a DK? lol at cleaving a gnome in twain.

They ought to incorporate racial leaders. The characters from the first two cinematics were rather unpersonable and didn't further the story at all. IMO, the cinematics should have been a nice premise as for why events are unfolding as such, not a montage of meaningless battles.
"Vanilla" Cinematic: Only speech was from the narrator, who vaguely stated the current state of Azeroth, not how it got to that state from the ending of TFT.
Burning Crusade Cinematic: Monologue by Illidan, completely failed to explain how or why the Dark Portal opened, or why we should be fighting him ("HE WAS CORRUPTED LOL"). It turned out Kael'thas was a more significant threat anyways.
The WotLK cinematic should explain yhy the Horde and Alliance are only now sending forces to Northrend, and portray the following:
-The "awakening" of Malygos
-What the mages of Dalaran have been doing all this time
-What the Lich King has been doing all this time
I really don't want to see another battle montage with "I AM THE ONE TRUE KING LOL" at the end. Put some substance into it.
Sean Riley Mar 19th 2008 8:15PM
Agreed, but this won't happen because Blizzard want to emphasise the nature of the player as the hero. Those guys in the opening cinematics are meant to be you.
Sean Riley Mar 19th 2008 8:09PM
OK, alternative. We satisfy the Gnome fans and highlight the Death Knight all in one go.
An orc skull lays upon the ground, camera slowly pans back as an iron boot crushes the skull beneath its feet. The camera tilts up as it pans backwards to reveal the horrible, frightening image of the Gnome Death Knight.
With pink pom-pom hair.
She spins her sword up and squeaks, "YOU ARE NOT PREPARED!" and then charges the camera.
Cut to logo.
Huh? Huh? I think we have a winner here.
Twothing Mar 19th 2008 8:19PM
OMG! Yes! Winner IMO!
Aurix Mar 19th 2008 8:24PM
That's so full of win.
Silverhoof Mar 19th 2008 9:14PM
all i have to say is= LOL & ROFL
