They ought to incorporate racial leaders. The characters from the first two cinematics were rather unpersonable and didn't further the story at all. IMO, the cinematics should have been a nice premise as for why events are unfolding as such, not a montage of meaningless battles.
"Vanilla" Cinematic: Only speech was from the narrator, who vaguely stated the current state of Azeroth, not how it got to that state from the ending of TFT.
Burning Crusade Cinematic: Monologue by Illidan, completely failed to explain how or why the Dark Portal opened, or why we should be fighting him ("HE WAS CORRUPTED LOL"). It turned out Kael'thas was a more significant threat anyways.
The WotLK cinematic should explain yhy the Horde and Alliance are only now sending forces to Northrend, and portray the following:
-The "awakening" of Malygos
-What the mages of Dalaran have been doing all this time
-What the Lich King has been doing all this time
I really don't want to see another battle montage with "I AM THE ONE TRUE KING LOL" at the end. Put some substance into it.

Agreed, but this won't happen because Blizzard want to emphasise the nature of the player as the hero. Those guys in the opening cinematics are meant to be you.
