Reader WoWspace of the Week: Aryc Ogre
Welcome once again to Reader WoWspace of the Week! Now I know a lot of people like 'em messy, but as some have noted, we just don't get too many messy ones. It seems like we generally only get them when they're clean. (Of course, you have to wonder if we couldn't market WoWspace participation as an effective office organization tool!) This one comes to us from Aryc Ogre, who didn't send in his character name, server or anything, but his case makes us wonder if he isn't the prot Paladin from this recent Penny Arcade comic. For his story and lots more pictures, be sure to join me after the break!
[These] are a few pics of my desk setup. I know you like them candid, but I try to keep my desk pretty clean. Plus, I had just gotten done installing some new cables inside the computer and that was a perfect time to remove some clutter.
There are some notes for the itemized image below. (Click the picture above for the numbered photo)

There are some notes for the itemized image below. (Click the picture above for the numbered photo)
- Warcraft Library - Bradygames guides (sometimes handy if you haven't been in Uldaman for a while and get lost), Atlas, 'Art of' books, folder for common recipe items.
- Saitek Eclipse II keyboard. (Nothing fancy, no macro keys or anything. Just a good solid keyboard).
- Logitech G7 Laser Wireless mouse on Thermaltake multi-color LED gamepad.
- Viewsonic 22inch widescreen with iPod dock.
- iPod (Good for playing music during long hours of mining)
- Portable 80GB drive for when the flash drive simply won't cut it.
- World of Warcraft Dwarf Warrior figure. (The Warlock and Illidan are on top of the PC).
- Sonic Screwdriver! (Doctor Who!)
- Belly Clock Buddha. (Because everyone needs a Buddha with a clock in his belly).
- Alien invasion. (Better seen in another photo).
- Stargate Atlantis lamp.

That desk rocks, just for the sonic screwdriver (Shame its the new one, the old one had more style)
Kraynor Mar 19th 2008 7:38AM
Guess I'd better start cleaning my desk and arranging figures... any true WoWer has snack wrappers and a mug of coffee/soda/ all over their desk... but that just doesn't cut it in the public eye now does it

I hate when PCs look like a spaceship. So damn ugly...

Anyone else think of the word "Nerd" right now?
Super Guest Man 9000 Mar 19th 2008 9:59AM
Says another player of an online RPG. We're all nerds.
mattarin Mar 19th 2008 11:59AM
yes he is a total nerd. and to super guest just because we play the game doesn't mean we are nerds. i am not a nerd i just play the game. i don't read the history of wow, i never played WC 1-3, i don't collect anything wow related at all. i only play the game only get to play every other weekend because of school. so not every wow player is nerd. i think you are more nerdish if you are one of those ppl who raid every night.

Sorry, the operative word here is "geek". Nerd is generally reserved for that don't shower and have a overall lack of social interaction. But hey, feel free to slap whatever label on me you like. After all, if you can judge the entirety of my existence simply based on photos of my desk area, who am I to argue? You should really find a way to make some cash off that skill. I know I would. Then again, I would probably use it to buy more toys and stuff.

It looks so cool, but I don't think I could handle all that light if I tried to play at night.
Where can I find more info on that monitor too? XD
pismophreak Mar 19th 2008 9:25AM

That TV... LOL.
WoW players don't watch TV anymore. No sense keeping that old thing buddy... :3

Clearly, his mom made him clean his room. My place doesn't look like that. I have plates, empty beer bottles, coffee cups and stuff all over my desk. I'm surprised I can find my freakin' keyboard some days. Nice try! Clearly, this is a hoax! XD

+1 Gror. Holy Nerd.
~Cool kid in the math-club.
Aryc Ogre Mar 19th 2008 11:54AM
Heh, not a chance. I sucked at math in high school. Come to think of it, beyond totaling bills, I suck at it now too. I was too busy not getting caught for all the dumb stuff I did.
Lysy Mar 19th 2008 9:53AM
I like the glowy stuff :D Then again, I am a girly girl and love pretty things =P
Ladli Mar 19th 2008 10:02AM
I like the glowy stuff too. Adds to the ambiance.
Zegim Mar 19th 2008 2:54PM

"This one comes to us from Aryc Ogre, who didn't send in his character name, server or anything"
Whoops! My main has been a dwarf warrior on Proudmoore named Obregaard, but lately I've been focusing on leveling my mage, Krystalya to 70 (on the same server).
Sydera Mar 19th 2008 2:08PM
I love this setup. If I sent in a picture of mine...crappy lapdesk with a laptop, loveseat with coffee cups and wine glasses balanced precariously on library books I'm supposed to be reading, post-its with healing assignments stuck to books, couch, monitor, everything...aah! Don't listen to people who think this awesome setup is nerdy. I couldn't even clean up my workspace if I wanted to.

Krystalle you need to get on the next podcast :)
